Cinepost is good. Damn good. The prices are reasonable. I live here in Atlanta, I've been there for sessions in super 8 and 35mm. John, the telecine operator knows his stuff backwards and forwards. Once I brought a purple roll of Kodachrome that was 30 + years old. I went in there thinking he could ...

Smaller bands, huh. Try Brand New Heavies, Topaz, and SoulLive.
Does the song have a story? Do you want to stray from the performance
style video and do something different?

Two bands that you may want to consider : Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone. Fishbone isn't a funk bank , more like punk funk. A really good video with a Funk vibe is OUTKAST's " B.O.B. (Bombs over Baghdad). Now, the fathers of funk are George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Just take a lon...

For that set up you should use an external light meter. Your ASA after you apply the Anamorhic lens, polarizer will be 25. That is still fine as long as you shoot outdoors in bright light. Use a reflector for close ups. You can get a cheap Westcott collapsable reflector from your local photographer ...

Arislan,

If you need a projector bulb it will probably be here :

http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/t.pl

Ebay will probably be cheaper, but you can get all the specs at that site.

Two things you can do to increase image contrast. Use a polarizer when shooting outdoors a sunny day. But beware using a polaizer eats up 2 stops of light. Second, rate the film normally and tell the lab to push the film one stop. If you are going to do any push/pull work, I highly recommend Spectra...

Go for it !!! Shoot some ASAP. I love that filmstock. Grain, is the one
advandtage I notice 5217 has over 5274. If you were going to mix the two stocks together in the same scene, I would overexpose the '74 by
1/3 stop more than the '17(Vision2). Adjust contrast in post.

Super 8 5274 - pre Vision2

Hey Shooters, Here is a still from some 200T 5274 (not Vision2) that I shot back in 2002. The camera was a Nikon Super Zoom 8. Handheld light meter. I really miss that '74. Outdoor footage had more contrast. http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/gallery/forum3/fly_car_capture_5274 The transfer was don...

Since when is Cinevia rated 64 ASA? It should be 50. It is 50 ASA. If you set your HANDHELD light meter to 64 ASA, it will be underexposed by 1/3 stop. REVERSAL film benefits from SLIGHT underexposure - NEGATIVE film benefits from SLIGHT overexposure. Check out some of the slide photography ...

64 ASA. When shooting that filmstock make sure you use lots of
fill lighting ( reflectors, soft bounce light).

I have 2 suggestions. Pro8mm has 5279 available in super 8 still.
That film stock will look VERY grainy under the right conditions.
You could also shoot 5217/Vision2 in super 8 and push it one stop.
This will help for cutaway shots .
