Super 8 5274 - pre Vision2

Post by fastwind »

Hey Shooters,

Here is a still from some 200T 5274 (not Vision2) that I shot back in 2002. The camera was a Nikon Super Zoom 8. Handheld light meter.
I really miss that '74. Outdoor footage had more contrast.

The transfer was done on a Rank Turbo telecine.

Looks good.

Our camera shop got in a few carts of this, so I'm going to have to shoot some to see how it holds up against V2 200T.

Have you noted how well the the original Vision stocks cut with the Vision2 stuff?

Go for it !!! Shoot some ASAP. I love that filmstock. Grain, is the one
advandtage I notice 5217 has over 5274. If you were going to mix the two stocks together in the same scene, I would overexpose the '74 by
1/3 stop more than the '17(Vision2). Adjust contrast in post.

The Kodak VISION2 Color Negative films have slightly lower contrast than the films they replaced, and have significant improvements in tone scale, color reproduction, and graininess. For scanning or video transfer, the slightly lower contrast is usually an advantage.
