Re: Recording sound

We have an m-audio. I don't like it.

Seems to be a "get what you pay for" field, so we got one of these:

(not sure if that's the model we have, but it's close)

Re: Recording sound

Obviously ,they don't call you reflex for lack of reasons. Well, without not referring to your writing style, the above doesn't fail to say it all. Anyway, "they" don't call him reflex, he does. Did the collective forum membership choose your username, or did you just pick "dave"...

Re: Recording sound

I've got a Nagra 4.2L with crystal, pilotone and much-sought-after preamp. I've got some cool stuff for doing pilotone sync btwn S8 or 16mm cameras and the Nagra. It was bought and used for 2nd system sound for short films, but I'm done with it now -- my studio partner bought a $2500 piece of digita...

Where Have I Been?

Hi all, I've been away. I hope to be back a little more often now. Thanks to Andreas for all the hard work on the new platform and servers! I've been up to a bunch of stuff: - changing jobs; now i'm downtown so i can ride my bike to work! and the job is more fun, so double bonus. - raising kids; the...

BTW, Steve -- I haven't been to True/False, but my compatriots went when one of our films was selected (the first or second year of it I think) and said it was an extremely well-run and -programmed fest. Much fun. Congrats on getting in and have a great time with it!

My experience has been - very short films are easy to program b/c they can squeeze them in anywhere; - topical matters, but mostly in that shorts can/need be aligned with longer-form films of some sort; - I don't know anything about nepotism; but RELATIONSHIPS (human ones, not dating or whatever) me...

Very good info, thanks. I'll target 8ish then. :)

So this must be your movie?

Looks really cool! Congrats!

Did you have any visibility to genre when compiling your RT numbers? I would guess that doc shorts get away with being a little bit longer, but might be totally wrong about that...

The first thing I knew about the short I'm working on right now is how long I wanted it to be (5 minutes, though I've revised up to 7 as a target). I think about it similar to working in meter in poetry -- meter is very restrictive in one sense, freeing in another. One side of my brain can follow th...

As for privacy, I still say Facebook requires you to give up far more privacy than anything they provide for in return.

I'm a little confused. Exactly what privacy does Facebook require me to give up?

Ha, yep, that's me.

I'm sure there are multiple "Chris Cortez" on Facebook since there are at least 3 here in Austin alone...

Others? Come on, admit it -- you ALL are on Facebook... :P

That is SO funny. I was JUST ABOUT to log in and ask the same question. Disclaimer: I have to this point been a complete luddite about social networking sites. Catching up with a bunch of NYC coworkers now has me totally hooked. I'm on Facebook and Linkedin. Feel free to add me to your network or li...
