Ektachrome 64T EPY discontinued?

Post by Carlos 8mm »

I´ve just checking out Kodak´s web site and I found that Kodak offers only 3 professional slide films (excepting the new E- Family):

KODAK EKTACHROME Professional Infrared EIR Film
KODAK EKTACHROME 64 Professional Film (EPR)
KODAK EKTACHROME 400X Professional Film (EPL)

So what happened to Ekta 64T EPY? Its datasheet still appears with other discontinued and available slide films...

Maybe a mistake? or a new emulsion is coming? :?

Is EPY considered a professional film in 35mm slide format?

Kodak offers that emulsion as a professional slide film like the other ones from the E-Family.

Elite Chrome family (according Kodak´s web site) is intended for non-professional users.

Back in the mid 80's, I used 35mm E6 films films professionally for all sort of stuff... I recall EPT 160T was perfect with quartz lamps (Tota-lights) and theatrical lighting on stage, sometimes pushed to 320, but came out really ugly under fluorescents.

I have to say it looks like the writing is on the wall for Kodachrome.

The only thing one can say is that having merely one product available (K64) all the eggs are in one Kodachrome basket and that one product should sell well.

I shot some K200 in June, and some K64 last month. I have one K64 and one K25 in the freezer...the latter waiting for a special occasion...
