HTI Lamps - ok to turn on/off to test when buying?

Post by supa8 »

Hi
About to buy and collect a 16mm projector with a HTI lamp.
Any precaution to take when transporting or using gear with these kind of lamps?
Does one risk to damage the lamp or the projector when turning on, then off after 20/30sec?
Then transport it in a car?
I want to make sure I don't blow the bulb.
Cheers

Don't get your hands on any contacts when it is on. HTI have high voltage starter circuits. :)

The rest should be the same as halogens.
Kind regards,

I like to let my projector bulbs cool down a few minutes before moving it but most of mine are old incandescent bulbs. They can break filaments easier when they are hot.

HTI lamps don't have filaments as far as I'm aware; aren't they arc lamps?
