Has anybody ever tried a transfer with these people
http://www.cinefilmtovideo.info/ ?
from their cryptic description I think they use a work printer - maybe you know roger? I'll mail them and ask.
The price is pretty good.
Most TC places in the UK are either proper industry transfer houses in Soho which I can;t hope to afford or only offer transfer to DVD or VHS!
anyone ever used pennylane for TC - do they use a WP

they recommended http://www.Evermedia.co.uk to me but they don;t come cheap.
Does anyone in the UK offer just Workprinter -> DV. I can live without a DVD, background music (at £5 per 10 mins!!!) or VHS copy?

yeah I guess you're right.
If there was someone who had a WP and made an effort like those stills from Andreas' website, I would definitely give that a go but everyone just seems like they are selling themselves to people with old home movies not someone trying to make a half decent film.
I guess I'm better of saving my pennies and having half an hour at a proper transfer place than wasting my money on something that's unusable.

I have spoken before on here about Second City in Birmingham
http://www.secondcity-studios.co.uk/index.htm
not much about telecine on the website I'm afraid, but the bloke has a couple of Rank machines and will transfer super8. He recently transferred about 1 hour running time of super8, on 4 separate reels mainly negative but some K40 too, for £120, which included some grading (althou in the main it was just put through as is because it wasn't critical)
However - please don't take that price as firm because, as Mattias will testify, there is no fixed pricelist.
He will transfer to any video format.

To be honest I think he would do 50ft if you wanted, but it might be best to offer a minimum of say 200ft. He will just run it through in real time or grade each scene.danpuddick wrote:thanks for that one matt. that seems like the best price I've seen. I may have to wait till I've got an hours worth or maybe he'll let me have 30 mins. Man I wish I wasn't broke. it doesn't go with trying to make films.

I've not ordered a workprinter yet but offer a very high quality result with a real-time projected 'aerial image' thru a Buhl multiplexer with a Sony 3 ccd digital signal processing pro camera.
Today just done 8 x Kodachromes onto mini dvcam for local TV producers for Channel 4 project
