Photo Prints from Super -8 (?)

Post by Guest »

Hi all,

I've heard it's possible to have some prints made from a Super-8 frame...

Can anyone enlighten me as to how this is done, and anyone who has some advice as to how to do it or where to get it done?

I have a project for which the publicity stills were rubbish, and thought it would be nice to extract some stills from the footage....

Cheers,

I've seen several lens attachments on ebay, that allows you to copy frames to a SLR 35mm or digital camera. Most of the sellers does not have a clue what they're selling, so you might be able to find one cheap if you look around.

I think S8booster have one of these attachments...

Or you could do as the proffs do, take a 35mm SLR with you an shoot a few stills during filming....

I think Martin Baumgarten used to do that service, not sure if anybody else does.

There were devices sold but I've never come across one.

Here is one. It is quite simple to use.

no - a flatbed is useless for any format of transparencies, including movie film.

Get a Nikon Coolpix slide copies attachment and go digital. Cheap and easy.
My website - check it out...

There is also a video solution.

Here is a link to a sony dpp printer model 300 from a recently finished auction. This unit is probably NTSC, I'm assuming sony made a pal version.

To check out the quality, one can click on my signature link and see super-8 images that came from video, were capture by the sony video print unit, printed onto 4x6 inch video print paper at 306 DPI, the video to paper print was then scanned into the computer and then posted on my site.

What I do for prints from super 8 is simply transfer the footage to tape, capture the tape into my digital edit program (FCP) and then export the frames I want as jpegs. Print these on any digital printer.
