Advice on a camera for a Workprinter XP

I was wondering what video camera with firewire connectivity I can use with my Workprinter XP. My Sony camcorder doesn't have manual white balance and is a bit long in the tooth now.
Any advice much appreciated.

I used to use a Panasonic NV-MX300 3CCD camera. You can look for the PD150 or perhaps a HDV camera? Look for a higher end Sony, Panasonic or Canon camera.

I've taken the plunge and bought a secondhand Canon GL2 and I am waiting for it to arrive. Could anyone tell me if it's possible to tell how many hours the camera has been used for, is there a facility within the camera? I thought I read somewhere that you could.

Not sure about ascertaining hours, but I had a GL2 and it developed a dead pixel, which was a common problem with these models. Not very noticeable, but annoying, because you know it's there.

I was using a Canon Vixia HV-40 for HD capture until today, at a -5.50 setting with Velocity. I couldn't zoom all the way in on 8 mm footage, with its 10x zoom.

Just tested a very nice used Sony HDR-FX7 I bought on eBay. Works absolutely great at a setting of -0.50.

Interesting ... the difference of the settings. Must be a latency difference with the camcorder imagers.

Nice thing about the Sony... it has 20x optical zoom, and 3CMOS rather than just a single CMOS with the HV-40.
