Built a 16mm reel hole shrinking tool today!

Post by slashmaster »

Spindle holes on large 16mm takeup reels typically get progressively sloppier. So I tried making a tool today to reduce it. Tried it on a smaller reel first for practice.

Here is a video of the reel being rattled on the spindle before. https://www.facebook.com/ShildFilm/vide ... 3230675202

Here is the tool and closeup pics. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 883&type=3

Here is a video of after. https://www.facebook.com/ShildFilm/vide ... 8461645538

Keep in mind, this reel has square holes on both sides, you can get a lot less slop when you have a square on one side and circular hole on the other.
