Bolex H8 noise and taken roll problem after CLA

Post by kontrabass888 »

I just got one of my H8 back from service. It had a problem with the taken roll that it runs slower than the film running speed, so the film was jumpy after came out of the loop.
Now, the jumpy problem looks a little better but the speed of the taken roll is still not very stable. And the is always some noise from inside, it sounds like some rubber-friction.

I have made a video for it.

The shop is closed now ,so I can't get any answer, but is there anyone knows that is this noise and the problem of the taken roll will be gone after running some more films?

That service was not good.

I can tell from your video since I am a trained technician and know the Bolex cameras well.
If you feel like investing right, I’d gladly check out your camera.
Two years warranty for my work.

Thanks for reply,
I have sent it back to Kunee instrument in Netherlands.
I first sent them a H16 and a H8 and last week I sent an other H8 which has stuck motor after cleaned the film gate.
Last week, I got the H16 and one of the H8 from the shop, and I have sent the faulty H8 back yesterday.
Now, I am not sure that should I run a unexposed film to see the result of the H16.

How much cost to check the camera by you?

I just discovered that the H16 which had repaired by Kunee Instrument Netherlads, also has speed problem when tilt to the left.
So, this is a cheater, watch out.

There is nothing wrong with Kunee. They do a lot of specialize ciné related work.

Considering the nonsense observations you posted before on several topics the most likely cause of your trouble is your misunderstanding and misconceptions of how things work.
Kind regards,

OK I will explain clearly what are the problems after repairing by kunee instruments:

1)the h8, after repairing: the speed is unstable when tilt to the left, the speed of the taken roll was not fixed well.
2)the H16, after repairing: the speed is unstable when tilt to the left after 15 seconds, the film was scratched by the sprocket tooth at the last 3-5 seconds.

So, I believe that they are either didn't working seriously, or don't have enough knowledge about fixing bolex cameras.
Well, I hope it is cause the first reason, other wise I will never get my cameras fixed.
