What's the best and worst film title ever?

Post by Scotness »

My favourites are

Mars Vs The Pope
Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity

and Troma have had some good ones:

Surf Nazis Must Die
Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell

actually there's a whole list at
http://www.troma.com/movies2/archive/index.php3

I think the worst title would have to be

The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill And Came Down.......whatever it was - so bad I can't even remember

i hate all movie titles that begin with an 'ing' verb.
like 'saving silverman', 'finding forester', 'eating raoul', 'raising arizona' (but love that movie) and so on and so on........

So, would that count as best or worst title. I'm leaning toward best.

My favorite film title ever is, "the bad sleep well". (although it is not one of my favorite movies, or even one of my favorite kurosawa's. I just love the title.).

I think good titles are very hard to come up with. Whether it: a band name, song title, movie title, or whatever.

Good titles:

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (just plain cool)

All You Ever Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask (funny)

The Silence Of The Lambs (horrible film, but an interesting title)

Logan's Run (are these popping randomly into my head?)

Lock, Stock and Two Loaded Barrels (which came first, title or plot?)

Pulp Fiction (great film, sets the scene well)

Withnail & I (you never discover I's name)

O' Brother Where Art Thou (apocryphal line from old films)

things To Do In Denver When You're Dead (never seen it, sounds interesting)

OK, that's enough silly titles...

Bad Titles:

ARMAGEDDON!

SPEED 2

Oh, Lord, I can't do this

When jocking about porn movies with friend, we always talk about a potential movie that would be called "change the hole, it smokes.". But I don't know (and frankly do want to know) if this does already exist.

I don't see how any title can be worse than Can Hieronymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness? (1969)

The worst for the most money was that L Ron Hubbard piece of crap John Travolta made "Battlefield Earth", oh my god I feel like he still owes me a refund on that one

My favorite big budget sci fi is "Blade Runner" nuf said.

Low Budget is "Phantom of the Paradice" made in the 1970's by Brian DePalma, great style and production value for what they spent to make the movie.
Don't worry about equipment so much and make your movie!

I haven't seen The Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain (!) and agree it may well be a great film - just dont' like the title --- but there's the rub - shouldn't let that put me off seeing the film

Hey wasn't there a song once called Jesus Drop Kick Me Through the Goals of Life

Hey my wife's seen/heard both - and reckons their both good (I'm in trouble)

My all time favourite song title (and song):

Rock Lobster
