bolex 18-5 rebuild

Post by tr0x »

Hi, i'm rebuilding my bolex 18-5 since its gears were full of dust and absolutely needed some cleaning...
Now i'm looking for the right grease to use. I've noticed that the claw mechanism is lubricated with graphite grease... but other parts such as some plastic gears are full of a sort of red-brown grease. What can i use as replacement?
Lithium grease?
Silicone grease?
Thanks!

White Lithium grease used sparingly is what is most recommended and is what I use.

I suggest you contact Bolex Switserland .
They are still in business and have a web site.
They sell parts for the Bolex equipment and they could guide you which grease to buy. You can contact them in english, french or german.
