What I'm working on.....

Post by MovieStuff »

Thought I would stop in and say hi.

Had a painting on the easel that I needed to complete before moving on to some short subjects that I have planned. This is called "Pathfinder" and was done in the style of a hand painted photo. In fact, even though this is in color, I used a black and white photo as the reference.

The weather is starting to cool down and that makes shooting outside more comfortable for a fat boy like me. There's a local stable that I can get horses from most anytime I need them and the owner has about 100 acres of rugged countryside, so I'm writing a couple of western shorts. I'll probably use the guy that's in this painting as well as other townfolk. Lots of interesting faces out here. Dunno if they can act but that will be interesting, in itself.

Still deciding if I'm going to shoot on HD or film but I'll post some production shots as I get along with the project.

Later........

When are any of your works going to be for sale?
Or have you given any thought to having a firm make professional prints. (I don't know what the technology is)

There are a lot of people that still buy Western Art.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty buzzed about it. Haven't directed anything in years and years. But I had to get this painting completed before I could move on to another time intensive project.

They're called Giclée prints and we actually have an industrial sized ink jet printer that we've modified to print on canvas. Looks just great. We'll be selling prints of all the paintings and I'll start selling the paintings, themselves, after we have an opening at the gallery. Hard to have an opening with only 7 paintings!

Check with you guys later.....

Nice painting!!! you have done a great job!
I liked it very much, the colors are beautiful and match to the look you expect from a picture like that.

I have a friend who wants to shoot a western, but only in July-August. He will shoot SD video unfortunately (because of the low budget), but he wants to use super-8 for the final scene.

I think you should shoot film, it can be very beautiful for a western.
About which film format you were thinking to shoot with?

Good luck!
Raz.

Got tired of the green background and decided to change it to something chilly-willy. Now that this is really, really complete, I can move on to some of my film projects! :)

Roger,
Great painting. Thanks for sharing it! I just bought my daughter a nice wooden easel, various paints, brushes, canvases, etc. She draws all the time and now wants to try painting. Any advise, suggestions for how to really get her started on her first painting? She's 8.
Thanks
Victor
