kodachrome 16mm and 35mm DEAD!!!!!!!!!!

Post by adoyle »

not sure if you guys know this, but the bean counters at kodak have killed all kodachrome products.....
and with a move that was very clever, they have not made an official press statement ...stocks are from product made early lasty year...
bob mayson, the head of this joke of a company needs to roast in hell for this..
my anger is not really about the cancelling of the stocks, that is business..
what stinks is it to late to buy a years supply...because kodak in the uk has very little 16mm left.
i am thinking of setting up a web site called die kodak die..
long live fuji.

Then we'd all be stuck shooting B&W Fomapan in old reloadable Russian carts. :)

Not sure I'd go that far, Mr. Doyle.

8O Where did you hear this? I know that there a slight shortage in Europ, but its still listed on all of the Kodak sites in both 35mm and 16mm. In addition, there was no press release to anyone about it. K25 is discontinued, but has been for some time. Wow if it is!

I ordered some today. Takes a long time, they have to check, ship it out from the one place that has it. Since it wasn't advertised I didn't even know it was available, for color stuff i've used mostly 7245 since the reversal ektachromes were so ugly. Might be a good time to shoot some of it before its $60 per 100 foot on ebay, direct from some guy in Greece who kept it in a small cast iron box buried in his backyard. With the student discount its $22 a roll. Not exactly a bargain but I'm curious to mess with some lurid, saturated colors.

The person on the phone mentioned an endless stream of abuse over cancelling the super-8 version, mentioned having nightmares about it so at least sleep patterns are being affected.

$22 is better than Vision2 - $29.54.

"All Things Must Pass" i guess.

start countdown E64T and wish/hope that K dont end manufacture of Kodapak cartridges which can/are to still be loaded by other companies

with amongst other stocks 100D which as of yet posted samples dont look particulary good in S8

and remember, it was Poland that attacked Germany in 1939.

as true as the "aniversary" of S8 when they celebrate-announced the discontinuation of K40 it seems.

but it is all business guys - youll have to live with it -ever how and what.
enjoy 8mm filmshooting while you can, glad i have my 16mm in back hand.

"Fantastic" that its being discontinued? Or are you being sarcastic? Without any smileys its difficult to get your inference in a one-word response.

I'm really happy that another 16mm film option is gone. Especially Kodachrome - the Judas of stocks, which kept 16mm and S8 from modernizing and achieving their true place as professional origination formats.

The demise of K40 in 16mm has long been rumoured, but what makes you think 35mm Kodachrome is finished? As long as thats still around, the processing chemistry will be as well and Dwaynes will continue to process cine stocks. Fill that freezer now.
