want to know where to get 64T processed in USA/CANADA?
Just spoke with Qualex, they quoted me this for US processing:
You can take your film to a major chain like k-mart or target (they have a listing of all their stores, just call them) and we'll send your film to dwaynes.
You need to mark down if you want it transferred or not. supposidly transfer is 34.97 for 250 feet any additional is .15cents a foot. Can not tell you if that is in CDN funds or US though. Don't know their xfer method either.
MORE INFO FROM QUALEX CALL THIS #:
1-800-732-0375
I'm waiting on my film to come back, supposidly there was a hold up because they didn't know if i wanted it trasferred or not. I place the order on JAN 10/06 (dropped it off at shoppers in CANADA). They are going to call me back with the status.

no luck, held for about 10 min then hung up. Is Qualex inc. the same company? If so, I called a local branch here in Dallas, they told me that they only process K-14 & EM26 and couldn't give me pricing on it. They did give me another number to call 303-364-6444 but I havn't yet. Also they refered me to http://www.rockymountainfilm.com/ which is VERY $$$ and looks like they only do old stuff anyway. Will update this page as I learn more.jusetan wrote:call the #, post what they tell you, lets see if our results vary.
Results?
Jusetan, did you get your film back yet? If so, how long did it take round trip?
Do you know what it cost?
And when they say "transfer" what does that mean? A kino-video to VHS? A Rank transfer to DVD?

jusetan,
considering the results that you and others have gotten from Dwayne's as compared to other labs, are you going to continue using Dwayne's exclusively?

Just tell them it's E6, the most common process in the world.johnnhud wrote:no luck, held for about 10 min then hung up. Is Qualex inc. the same company? i do not know their telecine methods.. could just be film chain considering the price.
For my tests, i'll probably continue to use shoppers/dwaynes.
I'll not be shooting any serious projects on the 64t in the near future.. but who knows.
turnaround was about a month (should take less, but they lost my film.. i don't think qualex is used to handling the 64t yet.).
cost was 12.00+tax.

$12.00 sounds like a lot of money. I am sure that if you use one of the other outlets you will get a cheaper price.

this works always, at walmart that is.... when you put your film into the envelope in the special instructions box write this:
" super 8mm film for development, mark as slide film and send to dwaynes in Kansas"
i have had success with both K40 and 64 in this way and have never had a problem.

I just shot my first two rolls of 64T. I am going to get one processed at Exclusive here in Toronto. I know they are still using the old VNF chemistry and it won't be right, but I am curious what it will look like. I am going to send the second roll out for proper processing.
I am wondering if I should try this shopper's/qualex route and cross my fingers? Any more recent experiences?
I was thinking of sending directly to Dwaynes but they only accept credit card payment from people outside the US, which I can't do. My next choice seems to be Plattsburg (Martin Baumgarten). ANy opinions on that?
Thanks
Rick

Re: Super-8 Labs
The lab list is not a lot of help, because it doesn't tell you what chain stores accept S8 film to forward to labs.John_Pytlak wrote:Here is a link to the on-line Kodak Super-8 lab directory
The reason us Canadians are so excited about using the Qualex/Shopper's stores/Dwayne's route is because postage is horrendously expensive for film because it measures over 20mm wide. It would cost me $4.65 to send a single cart to Dwayne's for processing, plus return postage.
The ability to drop off a roll for a flat CAD$12 fee at my local Shopper's outlet is the only thing that keeps me shooting Super 8.

I anxiously await the day Exclusive switches their chemistry They are a 5 minute walk from me and I use them for my B&W and VNF (if I had any left). They say they are still getting a lot of VNF and not enough 64T to make the switch. I don't know who has all that VNF but one reason they are not getting the 64T is that they are not using the right chemistry. Until they switch they are not going to get any, so it's a bit of a catch-22 for them.
I also shot my first 2 rolls of 200T negative today and will bring them to Niagara Custom lab, about 20 minutes away. I can see myself switching over to the negative entirely very soon.
