ekta 64t news from kodak

Post by Justin Lovell »

talked with kodak rep today about 64t.

may be getting in some test rolls soon, BUT the only reason they are hesitant about releasing ANYTHING is because they are not sure that there are any labs that can process the stuff. I do'nt think that's really an issue 'cause it should have the same process that other ekta takes ... but i don't know too much about processing e-6 so don't ask me.

also i've heard that the reason why kodak stop using dwaynes is because they are processing their 16mm koda with their sup8 koda, and they are ACTUALLY both supposed to have different times for their processing.

just the word i heard.

Shucks, I'm not a lab, but I can easily process 64T. I want some to test.

Spectra is ready, Yale too if they can handle S-8. It shares the same process as 7285 100D but not VNF Ekta.
100D and Vision 3 please

Ditto. Well I can "easily" do it once I've cleared the sink of dishes!

Ouch!

I was a bit concerned about some footage I got back from Dwayes a while back. It just seem to look a bit too grainy than I would have liked, but I wasn't able to determine if the grain was related to the processing or how the rank cintel machine that did the transfer was set up.

Perhaps it's hit or miss if the two formats are processed at the same time.

Dwaynes has on their web site they can develop 64T without any problem.
So, it can be developed just like K-40

Well, let's hope they don't develop their 64T (process E6) with their 16mm K40 (process K14)! 8O

Well, there may be hope for K-40 anyway. I'm trying to get Kodak to sell me film in 1600 foot rolls. They say they can, but no word from them as to how much it will cost. So, if they say I can, then I'm going to order K40 in bulk loads and we'll still be able to get it processed at Dwayne's photo. Thus the battle may not be completely lost.

De super8 reversal lab in Rotterdam/Netherlands has also announced it will develop 64T.

I checked with my central lab, and they are actually talking about setting up a Super8 E6 machine. So, if they do go through with it, you can bring your 64T to any Ritz, Wolf, ProEx, Inkleys, Camera Shop or Camera West shop... crossing fingers. It's still up in the air, but they are seriously looking into it.

i thought the whole idea was that k40 was cheap, available and convenient. if it's hassle you want why not go for a better stock while you're at it?

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Personally, I'd prefer using 50 or 100 negative film. But there are so many of the die hard K-40 fans out there, it's just one of the films I have to get. The other films will be available too.

I've been waiting for some news from Kodak to get some good film. But since there hasn't been any word from them in weeks, I'll probably buy some film from Wittner and shoot that.

I shot some old K-25 sound film and I'm having it transfered, but the film was poor quality since it was played with by the person who gave it to me. It was partially exposed before I even got it. However, it is sound film and the stuff that did expose looked ok, other than being off color with an orange tint. The real reason I shot it was to test the mag for use with a sound roll.

I get the results in a few days.

That reminds me, did any work come out of the idea of turning the old sound-stripe area into an optical sound system?
