I have the 12 smr. It is the heaviest super8 camera i have ever had. but it DOES have all the bells and wistles. The sheer weight is the only downside.

If you have ever used a an Arri 35 2B or C,the older motors (I had 2 with mine,a constant speed and a variable speed)fit on the bottom and were like pistol grips.To use one of these on a tripod,you need a special high hat adaptor that is basically a type of guard "cage" that encircles the motor and supports the camera on a tripod.

I see no reason why some enterprising person couldn't make a similar piece of gear for such super 8 cameras.
