nothing tops the image on the canon XLS.. (1014/814) at least nothing I've seen so far.
It's really nice using the viewfinder on the beaulieu -similar to that on the bolex, but It does darken when shooting at higher fstops.

My eyes are so bad I haven't found before any S8 cam equipped with a viewfinder big enough for me to manually focus with, that's why I'm dependent on autofocus cams.

Autofocus Super8, like in "real" autofocus, not just "everything is in focus"?tlatosmd wrote:My eyes are so bad I haven't found before any S8 cam equipped with a viewfinder big enough for me to manually focus with, that's why I'm dependent on autofocus cams.
What cameras?

Real autofocus using a motor, cameras with a fixed focus have too little zoomrange for me.Kent wrote:Autofocus Super8, like in "real" autofocus, not just "everything is in focus"?tlatosmd wrote:My eyes are so bad I haven't found before any S8 cam equipped with a viewfinder big enough for me to manually focus with, that's why I'm dependent on autofocus cams.

Maybe, but what do they cost? I think we've recently had a thread with a link to a company producing them, and as much as I remember they were from 500 Euros up.npcoombs wrote:My eyes are perfect and I need to use the lens markings to focus. What about a magnifier: not possible?

does it really? consider a very low key scene wich can be really dark even if the subject or part of it is bright enough to expose just fine. i often find it hard to see the exact framing in any viewfinder even the brightest ones without the glowing frame lines that some 16mm cameras have.audadvnc wrote:My Bolex H16 presents an image that's dim and brown, but it shows me focus and framing.
