Best/Worst Super 8 Viewfinders..

nothing tops the image on the canon XLS.. (1014/814) at least nothing I've seen so far.

It's really nice using the viewfinder on the beaulieu -similar to that on the bolex, but It does darken when shooting at higher fstops.

My eyes are so bad I haven't found before any S8 cam equipped with a viewfinder big enough for me to manually focus with, that's why I'm dependent on autofocus cams.

Autofocus Super8, like in "real" autofocus, not just "everything is in focus"?

My eyes are perfect and I need to use the lens markings to focus. What about a magnifier: not possible?

The Canon AF514!
It's a pleasure to point at something and to see the focus ring moving automatic.
But I never shoot something with it.(yet)

Real autofocus using a motor, cameras with a fixed focus have too little zoomrange for me.

Maybe, but what do they cost? I think we've recently had a thread with a link to a company producing them, and as much as I remember they were from 500 Euros up.

Me too.

Spent a few years looking down a viewfinder of a video camera,( my right eye is more short sighted because of this) and the past 12 years sitting in a darkened room surrounded by CRT monitors absorbing the x-rays...things you do to pay the bills.

does it really? consider a very low key scene wich can be really dark even if the subject or part of it is bright enough to expose just fine. i often find it hard to see the exact framing in any viewfinder even the brightest ones without the glowing frame lines that some 16mm cameras have.
