getting WAY ahead of myself

Hello all,

I just got a Nizo 4080 on Ebay and I've started dreaming before I've even gotten it in the mail. I did a web search last night for home made super-8 steady cams but came up empty. Then I realized that they all seemed to be made for DV cameras, or any camera that has a mini LCD viewfinder. Has anyone rigged up something that uses fiber optic cable from the super-8 viewfinder into some larger screen contraption?

Maybe I should back up and take a film class or twelve. I'm starting to feel like there IS such a thing as a stupid question! :oops:

I hope this post is worth a chuckle, and I'd love to hear why this can or can't be done.

The closest thing that I have seen to a steady-cam mount for a super 8 is currently on ebay and is suited for a Nizo super 8.

Hi.

There is some exellent wievfinder video tap assist systems shown at this link http://www.Super8mmDirectory.com/Super8/S8VideoTap.html that will probably do the trick for monitoring.

You might look into the possibility to use a mini video (palm) cam as a video tap as well if you can access one.

Glidecam 2000 Pro works for me but have not rigged a video tap, very interested though.

the DV steady cams should work just fine for you if you can get a video tap setup and use a LCD screen mounted on the stabilizer. You could do it without the video tap and not be able to see what you are shooting, which could work for some things, but in general seems like a bad idea. I actually worked up plans for a really nice stabilizer that I was going to build, but I no longer have access to a machine shop so I can't machine the aluminum parts. Plus I never got around to finalizing the design, but I have it mostly done, just need to figure out a few minor details, maybe someday I will finish up the design and find someone that will let me use the equipment I need.
