i am thinking about getting
me a nice small super8 camera
I already own a fully equiped leicina special..great camera
but due to its complexity i only use it on well planned shootings...
... i like the thought having a small reliable good camera
that I can put in my jacket pocket everyday and pull out if i see
something i like to shoot..
i am thinking about something like the agfa microflex200
is it good?
how about asa settings?
or experiences with the negative stocks or black/white?
are there other cameras with these dimensions
(no handgrip!)
thanks
christian
small camera like agfa mikroflex

If you want a really small camera you could go for Single-8 - the Fujika P2 is truely pocket sized...
Hmm, i should get round to doing some shooting with mine some time!

The microflex is pretty tiny- I've not seen smaller, and if you get the right one, has nice featues. My 300 has a nice fade out feature and motor zoom (thats not really necessary!) I also have a Rollei SL86 that is pretty tiny- probably about the same volume but a bit longer and shorter. Heres a pic of these compared to the Special and a Leicina 8S reg8:
They are both very light weight too and have similar zooms. The 300 has nice internal focusing scale (symbols). The Rollei is actually a Bauer- internally the same as a Bauer Star:
I've not shot with either yet- need to service the Microflex and the rollei has a large crack in its plastic body, but it looks very nice quality otherwise.

The Agfa Microflex series is remarkably tiny and fits in my coat pocket easily - about the size of a paperback book. Compare a Canon 310XL, Agfa Microflex 200, and Bolex 233 Compact S:
I've only shot K40 in the Agfa, the manual says it handles "Tageslicht: 15 und 17 DIN, Kunstlicht: 21 und 23 DIN" if that helps. I got great footage outdoors.
I believe the Bolex is a Eumig Mini in disguise (made in Austria) it is longer and lighter but the Agfa has a more solid heft, kind of like an iPod.
I've had so-so success with Agfa's bought on eBay, often the meter is not working. Also, the earlier models require button cells but the 200 and 300 use AA batteries for all power.
Have you considered an XL camera like the Canon 310XL and 514XL or the Minolta XL401? Not quite as small but a ton of fun for available light and they age well - that is, I have rarely had one of those 3 models dead-on-arrival from eBay (out of dozens bought).

I second that vote. How about the Fujica AX-100 - barely larger than a Single-8 cart, with a 230 degree shutter and really fast F1.1 lens. Combine this with some fast Fuji RT200N film, and you can shoot small and low light.timdrage wrote:If you want a really small camera you could go for Single-8

Thanks! That's the first time I've seen the marine kit. Very James Bond. Just imagine trying to get on a plane with that in your carry-on!reedsturtevant wrote:and don't forget the accessories 8)reflex wrote:How about the Fujica AX-100
