funny selling price for pro8mm 7008

Post by sophocle »

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT

One just like it went for $1700 three months ago.

I would even want one--after pro8mm have had their grubby hands in it.

I was under the impression that this model of camera was only available to rent from Pro8 and not to buy? If so, how did this one find its way onto the open market?

but it's not a pro8mm camera? as for the price, it's a great camera in what appears to be great condition, equipped with crystal sync, and the buyer is probably shooting a music video in a few weeks. :-)

This 7008Pro is modified by Pro 8, to what they call 7008Pro II.
It is a Pro 8 special crystal board installed with several sync speeds and a few other minor cosmetic modifications. Mecanicly, it is the same as all other 7008 Pro cameras. Same motor, same filmgate, same expo meter, same Beaulieu mount/ c-mount, same......,same......,same.......
This model was for sale earlier by Pro 8 for a very high price, when they where new.
There has not been so many 7008 Pro exported to US (Pro 8 ) during the time Beaulieu factory produced the 7008. How many of them was modified directly by Pro 8 to ProII? How many is refurbish to ProII???

They were on sale when the company is still called Super8sound. These models were based from the 7008Pro platform. The new Pro8mm cameras are based from 6008S (or Pro) platform. I guess they ran out of 7008Pro. The 7008Pro II are crystal sync to 23.976, 24, 25, 24.97, and 30 fps.

Wow! US$4,050.00. This is the most expensive super 8 camera I have seen sold in eBay. They were selling for $10,000 to $14,000 depending on the configuration when they were new.

I created a thread before that compares the differences about these Beaulieus and includes this camera:

This camera is a little quieter than the standard 7008Pro.

I bought my 7008 pro, had it serviced and fitted with a f1.2 Angenieux glass (thanks a lot Bjorn) -- all for about 1/3 of the price for this item. Purrs like a kitten, almost silent.

I guess someone needed this one badly.
