Compressed to a piece of garbage (the VHS copies are 1,000% better) and thrown on here for your viewing pleasure.
Hi supa8!

I just found out that there is a new compressor (at least "new" to me since I found out about it only yesterday). It's called "Procoder" from Canopus. A 30 day trial can be downloaded from the Canopus site. Maybe that can help you make a better compressed version. It is supposed to be much better and at least 4x faster than Cleaner, which has reigned for so long as the ultimate compression tool. It can also be used for DVD.

Thanks for the info. However, I am afraid to release a nice quality copy on the internet for some reason. On one hand I am thinking, wow, maybe the internet is the best way for this otherwise dead film to get distributed for people to see. The other half of me is somewhat protective, even this is one of my first movies, to just throw this film in a soup bowl of mass free distribution. Some people have recommended I sell copies on Ebay. I don't know either way. I just thought it would interest Super 8 people because it was made recently and used the tools that are available to us current Super 8 filmmakers.

And that is exactly why I'd like to have a copy to watch on my TV. I'd like to see just how nice Super 8 can look as a movie making media. That and the super skilled documentation satire really inspires me to got off the technical and go creative.
So, where and how do we go about getting a copy? Hmmmm?

Yours truly,
Michael

Why don't you try to sell your short on Super Video CD? It has near DVD quality but in an inexpensive CD. More cheap than VHS and much more better quality.

Look for info at http://www.vcdhelp.com

I can help you too in anything you want.

Good Luck!

Michael,

I just ordered a copy. All you do is give SupaEightSixteen a Private Message and request a copy. It costs $10 plus $4 for S&H (if you're in the US).

If so, then my opinion is that you are a goof to defend Kill Yourself. His/her post wasn't an opinion. It was an assualt on someone's efforts to do something creative and interesting.

Joey bag o doh! -nuts
Why would you want to defend a lowdown comment like that by "K Y"
It wasn't an opinion, it was plain mean bashing.
Why lower yourself to defending it.
Maybe the fact that you are defending it is answer enough.

Super8Booster,

Being one of those "anonymous guests" you appear to despise, I apologise if my above post caused you (or anyone else) offense.

Contrary to what you may think, .... ....... .... ....so IMO if you don't having anything constructive to say, why say it at all?

regards,
Broken
Not particulary pointing at you but generally about negative responce AND beeing anonymous which might be to much for someone like me who has been a jury member of amateur film contests for many years.

There are some simple golden rules of thumb for this:

- personal dislike of the film theme migh be mentioned within in the jury but not weighted.
- for each negative comment there should be 2 positive comments, the 2 good ones put first.

Follow these rules and I think every amateur filmmaker will buy constructive critisism which can be good to improve a film.

Amateur filmmaking is a very personal form of art. No one makes these films for money in the first place only for a genuine interest in filmmaking. Serious amateur filmmaking like this one is so exhaustive and demanding that purely negative comments are not what these guys need especially if it is way out of focus.

I sincerely recommend the nut-heads to stay out of this topic and rather start your own nut topic and see how many filmmakers here who joins in. Be creative sort of, because I am pretty sure you never ever made a "FILM".
