There was also a Eumig 880 PMA that had no bids last I check 20 minutes before the end of bidding. It was marked at $19.

May not have been the best deals but I had blinked out one of these targets:

Original NAUTICA
Guess the guy bid on it himself and:
For some reason folks missed that one and went for this one:
EUMIG NAUTICA

While this one popped up and ruined my planz:

I put in a bid three hours before because I had to go to a meeting and thought I was going to have to pay a premium. Came home after the meeting was over and I still won. Can't believe it. Supposed to be fully functioning and in great shape according to email from the seller. He's got a 100% rating so...

The G S8 was Zeiss's top cam and cost 539 British Pounds when new in 1970 (something like $5800 US in today's dollars). More than Leicinas or Nizos of the time. The only super 8 camera more expensive might be the Beaulieu of the day? I don't know what they cost in 1970.

And what can you say? It's a fixed Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 2.8 on a super 8 camera.

And my other Zeiss was an S8 (their entry level cam). I paid something like $15 US for that one!

I wish I had luck in getting deals like this in the rest of my life. I'd be rich. Why can't I find a 1970 Porsche 911S in great shape for $500?

Glad you got it. I was going to bid on it at the last second, but then I saw that you placed a bid so I thought there will be another G S8 one day. I believe the guy made a mistake in the title by not including Zeiss. Many people would search by Zeiss Moviflex insreat of his title.

I'm glad you didn't. Thanks! Your MS8 must count as one of the great ebay deals -- condition-wise and especially with all the extras you got with it. I'm very certain there will be more GS8's to pop up on one of the ebays. And likely another a great deal.

You're completely right about listing titles. I find the best things on ebay by going through a variety of combinations that often miss what you'd think the seller should emphasize.

Now I just need to find somebody with an excellent Nikon R10 who doesn't use the word "Nikon" in the description. And doesn't even list it in the camera section preferably... :)

Yes, the M S8 I got is just beautiful. As I mentioned before, the three filters that came with it are worth more than I paid for the camera.
By the way, do not forget about our deal with the manual :)

Exactly. I actually searched by mistake for moviflex instead of Zeiss Moviflex. The camera appeared. I thought: WOOOOOW! the seller had made a big mistake. Then I thought: I bet that Santo had not seen this hehehehe

The other day I got a beautiful Series 8 (67mm) screw in Skylight A1 filter along with a great looking Series 8 lens hood and a 66M-Series8/67mm adapter all made by tiffen for $1. The 66M-67mm adpater is what goes on the Switar H-16 RX Vario zoom lens. I even forgot how I came upon this item. The item had a nonsensical title that no wonder that no one ever found it.

See, here's the kind of seller/listing we're talking about. All it needs to be is an R10 and no mention of Nikon in the title listing and I'll be ready to snipe:

And this guy's a doctor.

It might say 'Nikon' (cross self, genuflex, deverence) but I don't want it any more than a baseline Sankyo.
(Even Beaulieu did a badge engineering job 1000whatever)

8 dollar camera...

Post by super8man »

My 8 buck camera arrived today. Not quite as good a deal as the MS45 for $5 but I'll take it. Nice to have this kind of camera to trash (the Bauer C6 Super).

I sure wish I could have bid on the Zeiss. I don;t have one yet!! sniff sniff.

OK, so I got the Sony DCM-1 for $99 - but that was a while now and I need another deal. Oh wait, here's a good story:

I bought this car minidisc player for $99 BIN.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2443695539

I first saw it (same model) for sale on ebay buy a guy. Upon checking his feedback, found where he bought it. A liquidator...so I bought mine after asking him to report the item. The funny thing is, the guy who was originally selling his unit got more than he paid for it (and more than I paid) - go figure...

Here's what he got:

Cheers,
Michael

Just got this beauty in the mail today:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2962280856

I guess looks new in box to some people means that the tension roller can be broken off. Motor didn't work and it melted and ripped a film I threaded into it.

Best deals hmm..I bought two Canon 814 AZ cameras off ebay recently and I love them. $90 dollars each, worth every penny. Work great although my wife won't be seen in public with me using them because they are so loud. She wants me to get a quiet, respectable camcorder.

LoL. The phrase
"I have not tested this camera"
is almost always a eupamism for:
"I have tested this camera,(and it doesn't work)"
Just like "should be an easy fix for someone with the knowhow"
means:
"should be an easy fix for somone with a drawer full of unobtainable parts"

(My favourite one of these was "only needs a battery compartment endcap")

does this look any good?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2964500665

Or would it be cheaper to have my camera converted that I have now?

I currently own a H8 Rex-2 I was told by a camera company that it is possible to convert it to DS8...what do you think? Rex-4 DS8 and sell the Rex-2? Or just convert the Rex-2 to DS8 when reg.8 finally goes south?
