Could use some help recovering from a processing mistake!

Post by slashmaster »

I ran a kodachrome cartridge from about 1982, exposed it a couple f-stops brighter than what it would have been when new then tried to process as B & W. I've heard of people removing the rem-jet layer after processing and decided to try to do that. I only put about 5 feet in a lomo tank to see what results I could get before doing the rest. I put my d-19 in for 7 minutes. It looked like apple juice when I put it in, when I put it back in it's bottle 7 minutes later it was much darker like used motor oil! Then I flushed the tank with water and saw little pieces of rem-jet come out the tanks hose in the water. Then I put the bleach in for 10 minutes and took off the lid to see what was happening. Most of the rem-jet layer was gone. I tried running the d-19 through a coffee filter into another bottle but it didn't make it much less darker. My question is, what do I do now? Throw away the d-19? Filter it a few more times? What should I have done?

Throw it away. It's useless now.

Forgot about all this, but now that you bring it up, when I looked at my d-19 a couple days later, all the black stuff settled to the bottom of the bottle. :) Was very happy about that! I poured it into another bottle except for the black stuff at the bottom, ran it through a coffee filter too. Have since processed a 100 foot fomapan with it...
