Canon 1014 Autozoom Electronic

I have known a friend of mine for nearly 40 years, he is 84 years old now but still fit as a fiddle. When I was 13 or 14 I became interested in cine and him living next door to my parents gave me some great tips in the art. for years and years I thought he only ever shot with his Eumig C3 on standard 8, but last night I called round to see him and have a chat and he told me he wanted some super 8 home footage converting. I was surprised to say the least because he had never said he had shot super 8.

To cut a long story short he said "hang on a moment Ive something to show you" and he went upstairs only to come down with a Canon 1014 Autozoom Electronic in absolute mint condition, it still had an AGFA cart in it partially used and an exposed Kodak cart in the yellow envelope ready to be posted for development but never sent off.

He had taken out the batteries many years ago so the compartments are as new.

We put some batteries in it and switched it on and low and behold it came to life, ran sweet as a nut and the power zoom worked a treat.

He has the soft case for it but he also has the original box and instructions and also the remote switch.

I know it sounds like an advert but its not, I was just dumbstruck to be able to handle such a thing of beauty.

So after handling it and pouring praise on it he turned round and said I could have it..............for free.

He then went back upstairs and brought down some filters for it and a semi pro tripod, vintage early 70s style and said I could have that as well.

So this camera as ever only had 1 and a half carts through it in its long life.

I just sat there amazed at his generosity.

I just thought I would share this with you.
