Unfortunately, the Ikonoscope was stripped down in terms of features. With 16mm, you could have automated laps dissolves like many Super 8 cameras have and you will not be limited to time due a convoluted film path such as the Super 8 cartridge has. You could have a built in interval timer, variable shutter, etc. etc.

Andreas, what happened to the Ikonoscope ? Did any other models appear with reflex viewing etc ? How is the registration ?

I was wondering about the Ikonoscope on this drifting topic as well. Very compact, but also very basic. I remember Ikonoscope was entertaining the idea of a new DS8 camera about 10 years ago. But haven't heard much about them at all recently.

The Ikonoskop Super 16 camera being basic, light and inexpensive seemed like a good idea. Yet the configuration in which the camera was issued had almost no success with amateurs or professionals and we understand why as it is essentially a camera without a viewfinder and in a way virtually unusable. Despite this limitation the camera is very stylish and has a simple and elegant design, its size and lightness is a great bonus and it does run at crystal control speeds too. A simple reflex viewfinder upgrade would be a great valuable addition that would the camera far more desirable, but as far as I know the Ikonoskop company started to make a digital motion picture camera but now doesn't exist anymore.
