Richard Tuohy North American Tour

Post by Wade »

Fans of Richard Tuohy and Dianna Barrie will be happy to know they are on tour in USA and Canada this month and November. They will be screening many of their films at exhibitions, as well as holding a number of workshops, including his Chromaflex workshop in two locations. He will be in Baltimore, at Sightunseen http://sightunseenbaltimore.com/WORKSHOPS, and in Vancouver via Iris Film Collective, http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/chromaflex-w ... es2&rank=3. He will be in L.A. this weekend for an exhibition at FilmForum, http://www.lafilmforum.org/schedule/fal ... ed-cinema/, and in San Francisco in November for a screening of his works, and a workshop TBA at the Exploratorium, http://www.sfcinematheque.org/screening ... ed-cinema/. He will be conducting a number of other workshops and screenings in various locations as well. Richard is an extraordinary experimental abstract filmmaker using varied remarkable alternative chemical and printing techniques.

This is fantastic news! Are Richard and Dianne considering a stopover in Toronto? :) I am a recent "graduate" of Richard and Dianne's wonderful Chromoflex class held last year in Toronto, e.g. http://vimeo.com/84740721

Feelings mutual here, Nicholas!! I wish Richard could put on a workshop here in L.A. At least they will be here for a screening. Richard and Dianne both got sick at their most recent tour in S.E. Asia and the doctor told them to cut back. Still Richard said he is doing a number of other workshops. I asked him about them, but he didn't get back to me. Basically I don't know the other places he is going to be at.

BTW, I was at Echo Park Film Center this weekend (processing Tri-X with berries, flowers, and coffee. The berries and coffee worked!!)--and I showed them "Just Make It Stop" Wow. They loved it, as I do too. We are all in wonder how Chromaflex is done, and your video is great!!!

I should see them Sunday and will give them your regards. :)

Oh, we processed Tri-X with beer developer too. We got an image, but the caffenol developer was very good.

I'd like to add that in addition to the workshop in Vancouver, Richard & Dianna will also be doing a screening on November 17 at 7:30pm at the Pacific Cinematheque.

I just attended his screening in Hollywood. WOW! I really am not a huge experimental/art film fan. I suppose that's because most stuff out there is not all that great. But Richard's films are really impressive. Richard and Dianna really have dedicated themselves to exploring the foundations of film's mechanical/photochemical components as they focus on the world around them. It's a must see.

I forgot to say Richards says "Hello, hello", NIcholas - his very warm greeting for you.

BTW, Richard and Dianna are at Denison University Division of Fine Arts today Oct 14, and on Saturday at Anthology Film Archives in New York
