For the record. EU shipping is not Euro 500,- Unless it is over 300kg or something. Which is some 3000 films.

Ordered some new take up spools from Wittner.
As they arrived, there was a default with most of them, in that sense that they were narrower than normal in some parts, just ever so slightly warped that it had made them useless.
I paid 22 euro shipping for them as they only use UPS.
As I emailed to complain, they were somehow doubting the fact there was a problem with those 10 reels, and the only I could get my money back on them or even new reels was to send the faulty ones abroad.
That is after my spending 1000 of euros with them in the last few years, a few hundred euros, just for those spools, which it turns out can be got much cheaper from Wittner's competitors.
I know where to take my business to the next time...
From now on, Wittner will only be last resort as they are just plain greedy.

Of course they need to see the faulty items, if you had any. It is plain naive to expect new ones on their expense without proof. If there is damage from transport they want to see it too and the transporter wants proof before their assurance can be claimed.

You had better absorbed the conditions fully. They operate under German and EU mailorder regulations which are very strict and very much in favor of consumers. Business purchases have their own regulations and there is still plenty garantees on their goods.

There isn't much greed involved. It is just about operating a mailorder business.

Just enjoy the assortment and garanteed availability of all these supplies.
Kind regards,

André

If this is with GEPE 120m spools you're correct. We've seen problems with these since before the summer. It's a production fault and our supplier takes them back and gives us new. We've seen hole 20pcs boxes full of these. They obviously moved manufacturing location and manufacturing is probably not as precise as they used to be.

Problems would normally not be seen with projectors, but on delicate filmscanners they will cause all kinds of problems. (Therefore we mainly use cores when scanning. - also for 8mm)

I would beg to differ.
Shipping from where I am is so expensive it would hardly be worth it for the price of a few reels.
It is more a matter of principles. If someone that spent thousands of euros in my business over the years, mostly buying pens tells me that the small box of pens they ordered, and paid a lot of money to get delivered abroad, didn't work, I would surely send them another box of pens without hassle.
We're not talking about a high value item.
If you had a batch of 10/20 S8 cartridges, fair enough
There are the conditions, which I am well aware of, and there is common sense and customer service.
This is why dealing with smaller companies usually offers more flexibility and understanding. Great there are these supplies indeed but you will find that many Wittner is quite disliked among many super8 professionals (in Europe anyway), who find them pretty ruthless in my experience.
From now on, all order will be done through http://www.ffr-film.de

Hi Andreas
Thanks for your answer. That makes sense now.
Although I don't think they were the GEPE ones, just the Bonum ones, which to this day were absolutely fine.

Your shipping coast are your problem and not somebody else'

If you are such a large quantity user why don't you order from the distributor themselves?

Try Tuscan.

You are posting anonymous slander quoting slander from other anonymouses.

Good luck!

Well I wouldn't call it slander to be honest.
It's just my experience. Not more, not less.
It's still great that Wittner exist but I just wish they had a better customer service and a more human approach.

Just to mention that I will certainly arrive to the same conclusion due to a concern about unacceptable additional
costs that the Wittner customer service forced me to pay .
I will provide some explanation in a dedicated post.
