Anyone made a hardcore blimp?

Post by Scotness »

Has anyone made a really solid blimp - out of wood or metal? I want to know is it realalistically possible to make a beaulieu r16 quiet enough to make the audio useable??

try running it with a duvet over it with a lens sticking out. you wont beleive how quiet it will be.

Hello,

I made two, one to fit a Sankyo cm300 and another to fit a Canon 814. It took a fair amount of effort to find the right materials, but in the end total cost was around $50 per blimp and they are 100% effective!

I never got to shoot with them, but I did a full test without any issues.
here is the link to some pics...

Thanks for posting those pictures - it looks great - I guess mine would work if I was to build it.

Also I love the images from your films - is a DVD available or Youtube clips??

Thanks

G'day

If you are keen on a blimp, I could loan one to you free of charge, all it would take is the cost of frieght up to you, and your 814 to fit. I am currently renting out all my gear, most is free of charge.

I do have a dvd I could send you, if you PM your address, I will send it off, it's nice to get the occasional compliment!

cheers, Gareth

Thanks for the hire offer Gareth - but it's for my Beaulieu R16 (+magazine) which is quite big in comparison. I'll PM you re the dvd - thanks for that - I really look forward to it -- I can send you a copy of In My Image too if you want
