Ektachrome, soundsripe and Weberling

Post by Static 8 »

Has anyone tried to glue soundstripes to Ektachrome (64T or 100D) film with Weberling machine?
Wittner has a special glue for Ektachromes but they have only tested it with Juwel machine.
Since I haven't seen a Juwel soundstriping machine, I don't know what's the difference with Weberling machine. Speed maybe?

C'mon! Does anyone edit film and add soundstripe anymore?
So many topics on transfering and VIDEO editing...

Well, I'll try to soundstripe Ektachrome with my Weberling machine after I have shot my first carts of 100D. Like, early May. This year

Didn't mean to bitch about editing on digital, just keep shooting film!

Hello !

I use to edit film in the traditional way , as I prefer show them on the "big screen".
I have a Juwell machine for sound striping .
It does not work perfectly , so I process by short steps (no more then 30 meters
ie 100 ft in the same batch).
A few years ago I made my first film with 100D (sold by Wittner in Europ),
and after a very carefull cleaning the sound striping worked fine with the usual
glue sold by Wittner too.(cement ?)(I don,t know the rght word.)
Note that Wittner sells special glue for ektachrome .

Currently ,I sound stripe film less then before, because I have bougt an Elmo GS 1200 projector and I have built an electronic device to synchronise a stereo tape recorder.

There is a Spanish lab owner who stripes long rolls of Ektachrome before exposure... So it can be done in a reliable manner :)

Yes, but he's using his own cement as the standard glues don't survive processing.

This man glues with just "pure acetone". After several trials and processings this was the very best option and the most durable. He also strongly recommends to avoid Wittner glue for stripping...

Terve Mikko!

I also have a Weblinger striping machine and several hundreds meter of sound stripes. I have never used it as I bought it as a collectible item. Still would be interesting to hear from you when you have tried it with Ektachrome if I would ever use mine. I have however been thinking of use it with Kodak Tri-x sometime.

Thanks for replys.

I have a synchronizer and modified Bauer projector and Teac 4-track tape recorder for editing and recording but I prefer magnetic striped film as the final format. I can show my films outside my home on any sound projector, and I don't have to carry all the equipment with me.

I'll gues I'll try with pure acetone first. Too bad I don't have so much of waste footage on Ektachrome. Yet.

Does anyone have e-mail address for that spanish lab guy?
