UK 64T & Vision2 prices go up on 1st Nov

Post by Blue Audio Visual »

Kodak UK are raising their prices on the 1st of next month.

Vision2 stocks are going up by 22.5% or so.

64t prices are increasing by 16% or so.

Clearly these prices will be passed on to the end user by any retailers.

On our company website www.bluecinetech.co.uk we will be putting the prices up by 4.30pm tomorrow, as this will be our last opportunity to order from Kodak at the current rates.

I don't know whether this applies to other countries in Europe, or if it is only the case here in the UK.

I too have had a missive about a kodak price rise. Mine came from Australian Photographic Supplies who import a range of Kodak products Kodak Aus don't import. They mentioned an approximate 20% rise. Bugger bugger bugger. I haven't heard from Kodak Aus about this yet.

I call KODAK Los Angeles and NYC, and they knew nothing of a U.S. price
increase. Perhaps it's UK only. KODAK IS having a good year, though.
Check this repost from another forum about a BBC new article. :

Reading a rundown on the BBC News site about the impact of the
recession, here's something that stuck out:

"On the positive side, photographic company Eastman Kodak's profits
jumped to $96m for the quarter, compared with a $37m profit in the same
three months last year"

I'd heard from some Kodak people that they were having a good year, but
I had no idea it was that good. They implied that much of the profit
came from the motion imaging division, especially 35mm sales.

If this is true, can't they chill on Uk Super 8 film prices hikes?

Then possibly the US-dollar rise of last weeks is the cause?
Kind regards,

I've known about the price rise for something like 2 months and I'm sure the decision wasn't made on the spur of the moment, so the reasoning must be more long-term than a simple reaction to the most recent rises. To be fair to Kodak as far as I remember up until now 64T and Vision2 stocks had stayed at the same price since they were introduced. B&W stocks went up in price by a much smaller percentage something like 6 month ago.

Different Kodak companies in different countries: Kodak UK presumably sets its own agenda and is probably to a large extent free to do whatever it sees fit to do as dictated by local circumstances.
