GE DW-68 Meter

Post by BonnutFilmStudio »

Hi,

I'm going to try out a light meter for the first time, just because I've never done so before. Im a little confused as to how I use it.

I understand that it measures in footcandles and I understand how to set the ASA. I also understand the difference between reflective and incident light. But:

1. Is the "Hood Off" arrow mean you must remove the top half of the meter and "Cover Open" and "Cover Closed" refer to that front flap?

2. When the meter tells me that number of footcandles, which arrow do I align with the "Light" on the dial? Is that same arrow as the ASA?

3. What is the smaller arrow for and what is the diamond for?

Not sure if these icons and designations are exclusive to the GE DW-68 meter or not. But here's a picture of it:

Any help would much much appreciated.

Can anyone help me out at all? Any insight on simply using a light meter would be great.
