Spectra and Yale have both moved

Post by Jim Carlile »

Just so no one panics, both Spectra and Yale Labs have moved recently (like very recently.)

Yale is now in Burbank on Burbank Blvd., at around Pass Ave-- almost in North Hollywood.

Spectra is down the street on Vineland, down Burbank Blvd, right by the evil clown that was a post-war nightmare for all of us children whose parents would dare venture into the Valley.

It's still there, still haunting our dreams. It's has to be seen to be believed. They've noted it on their website:

I'm a little surprised by Yale's move. They had a nice new facility of their own they built about ten years ago up on Victory.

Hmm-- wonder why they moved....?

So I guess with Pro-8, Burbank is now the Super 8 capital of the world.

Yecch.

I wonder if Spectra will find the 2 rolls I sent them on the 7th in their packing debris?

I guess my credit card company will be the first to know. :?:

That's a great neon clown. The thing is massive and one of the great pop culture icons of the San Fernando Valley. It's been in quite a few Hollywood movies. The nice thing about Spectra's move is that they're closer to me!

Pop culture icon? I don't know. On the George Barris level? Nothing beats the Munstermobile on Riverside drive.

Didn't P.T. Anderson use this evil clown a few times? That neighborhood's a trip.

I don't care where Yale is located. I wanna know when they will stop fucking with people's project through their censorship. I haven't used them since I learned about their policy about 10 years ago.

Behind Pro8mm the only company I hope goes under is Yale.

Don't want to take this into personal bitches...Sorry. I just did.

Good Luck

Odd. I'd have thought you would stop using them because they did a bad job on your film or something, not because they practice their right to choose which jobs they want to work on. Don't you choose which jobs you accept and which jobs you refuse?

"Censorship" should never be confused with "personal choice".

Really, that would be something if waitresses and such occupations would adopt such job ethics. People in service industries have very limited rights to refusing customers. Otherwise they wind up in court really quick. Especially in court-lusting 'home of the free' USA I would think.

Your analogy falls a bit short. The waitress doesn't own the cafe she works in, thus her choices are somewhat limited, compared to the owner of the cafe, who has a much wider degree of latitude in who he doesn't want to serve and why.

Oh, I agree that the US has lost its collective mind, in terms of out of control litigation. But, in this particular case, any lab has the legal right to choose the project it wants to be involved in. Nigel can pick the projects he wants to work on and so can Yale. Neither will end up in court as a result.

For some reason this seems to be along the same concerns that web servers, message boards, and the like come across...when does allowing someone to do something on something you own become YOUR problem...I thought the phrase at play here is: we reserve the right to refuse service...but once you accept the client, you are suddenly bound to the consequences...hence the first line of refusing service.

Don't want to drag this any further but bar-owners cannot refuse people. I think only when the customers have a reputation for not paying or being a continious nuisance.

Sitting and talking in a café-bar with a (dressed) model who acted in your, to be famous, S8 feature documentary on running nude blondettes on a sunny beach is hardly a reason to be ousted from that bar. How much a bar-owner disapproves of nude blondettes, it is no good reason.
Kind regards,

A public bar owner might not be able to refuse a customer (unless they're intoxicated, underage, ect.) but if they don't serve what the customer wants, the customer moves on to the next bar. Not every bar has every type of liquor.

Sure they can if it's a private club.

It's just a different way of looking at things. Yale just says they don't want to be involved with pornography or even have to make a judgement call on what is and isn'.

They aren't refusing to do business with you, just with nudity.

Personally I think it's a little silly but whatever, just move on to the next lab.

OK,

It's about time we turned one of these discussions on its head (because THAT would be even more fun!)

I realize that the IMDB isn't always the most accurate thing in the history of civilisation, but what about the possibility that Yale has credit in soft-core porn?

Behold, item 3 in the link below:

http://www.imdb.com/company/co0095744/

Yessir! Yale and Hefner...together at last.
