Cinevia (Velvia) now available in super8 carts from G.K-Film
G.K. film have just announced that their version of Fuji Velvia 50D - Cinevia - is now available in Super8 carts.
gkfilm.de under 'Neuigkeiten' on their German page introduces this product and gives the price as E24.5 with processing and E18.50 without. They give an explanation/appology there for why the stock is expensive. I hope they get support in this. I also wonder whether all the new velvia stock in carts (apart from Pro8mm's) are going to come from G.K. Film.

GK Film sells this film starting from April 8th. They only sell Cinevia (Fuji Velvia) in Super 8 cartridges. This film is also available in Single-8 cartridges from http://www.retro8.com (12m/40ft). We have tested this great film stock for smallformat. Test is in the newest issue 1/2006.

GK Film wants to introduce this film in 16mm, too. May take some more weeks.
All the other film stocks like Ektachrome 100D in S8 cartridges or Wittnerchrome 40 T in S8 (which is Kodachrome 40 from 16mm rolls) are only available at Wittner Cinetec. Wittner will also sell Fuji Velvia in S8 cartridges (starting in some weeks). His film is called Wittnerchrome 50D. Both companies - GK Film and Wittner - use the same film stock but have different ways to fill it into S8 cartridges.

Yes, but Wittner does already! I have 10 being sent to me now and I can't wait. They do 50' and up lengths of raw stock. The 50' rolls cost me (without tax) 11.12Euro each. By the time they land in Australia, that equates to the Kodak price here for 64t.Carlos 8mm wrote:Pity that Gk-Film don´t sell Velvia 50D in raw stock to load my Kaccemas...
My understanding is the Spectra already has some pre-release Velvia 50D for both super 8 and 16mm (100' daylight spools). It is available now to those who ask: http://www.spectrafilmandvideo.comGK Film wants to introduce this film in 16mm, too. May take some more weeks.

I saw it on their front desk this past Monday. I think I'm going to buy some this week.DrkAngl wrote:My understanding is the Spectra already has some pre-release Velvia 50D for both super 8 and 16mm (100' daylight spools). GK is not the supplier. They/he is the manufacterer. I.e. he is reperforating 35 or 16mm into S8.Splee wrote:A European supplier for this film is great news - it's a bit expensive, but it can be used in cameras designed for K40! Does anyone know if the price with processing included from GK Film will include return postage to the UK?
I'm going to get a few of these.
Kind regards,
André
