Re: Punches have arrived!

The Wittner website appears to be saying something else: With the tool kits purchased from us, you can implement a separate DS8 (1-4) workflow. . Having read the German version, a more correct translation would be: With the tool kits additionally purchased by us, you can implement a separate DS8 (1...

Re: Regular 8mm or Super 8?

Welcome to the forum! You've already summed up quite eloquently a lot of the advantages and disadvantages of either format. To answer some of your queries as a person who uses both Standard 8 and Super 8 - here we go. The little Bolex cameras - like my own 1956 B8 - are indeed a good choice for a lo...

Re: Kodak 100D

Does anyone have any idea if Kodak has plans to start making Kodak Super 8 100D colour reversal film Welcome to the forum! I'm not aware of Kodak having any plans of producing their Ektachrome 100D again. They did produce it from about 2009 (or 2010?) up to 2012/13. You will find the thread about 1...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

The big question is: Selling the stock at 65 pounds - or just trying to sell it at that price?

Re: Help!

I happen to have a Sekonic 80P projector myself. It worked a treat for a while, although I had to replace the belt at some point. In contrast to other projectors, this one is actually quite repair-friendly. Recently the motor got a bit temperamental, and I haven't tried the projector for a while. Po...

Re: Jordan 8mm film (with a little help from 35mm stills)

Thanks a lot, David, for this advice. In hindsight, this does make a lot more sense than my initial suspicion of x-ray damage. After all, it did puzzle me a bit that the lines appeared roughly in the same place in all the films (and all two halves of the films - given the nature of Double 8 ). I did...

Jordan 8mm film (with a little help from 35mm stills)

I just uploaded a 6-minute film from my travels through Jordan last November. You can watch it at http://vimeo.com/88901889 I used my 1956 Paillard-Bolex B8, with film stocks Wittner PXR100 and Wittner Chrome 100D, and also a Pentax K1000 35mm stills camera, with Kodak Ektar 100 and Ilford PanF Plus...

Re: What reversal Super8 films do you use?

I haven't shot much Super 8 recently, have one final cartridge of Ektachrome 100D in the freezer, and another three Tri-X cartridges.

Back in November, I took my Standard 8 camera to Jordan and shot three rolls each of Wittner's versions of Ektachrome 100D and Plus-X.

Re: Dilemma

4 months in the fridge isn't actually that long, most of my film has been lingering for a lot longer. One thing that I tend to do is to shoot events I attend with friends. For example the Dorset Steam Fair, or an Aldermaston rally - both of which I shot on Standard 8 with a little handheld Bolex B8 ...

Re: Schmalfilm snuffs it

I wouldn't be so sure that those films haven't been used. After all, there's always a possibility that people may want to process the films themselves - or have them processed somewhere else, for some reason. Okay, this probably only accounts for some of those 400 that weren't sent in. Then again, I...

Re: Kodak Negative Film

Thanks guys, I'll definitely send to Andec for processing then! It would be good to get these transfered in HD, any ideas where I can send them for that in the UK/ Europe? I don't mind sending them off to a range of different places for different prices this first time around to decide who to use i...

Re: Kodak Negative Film

Brilliant, do you have any examples of their telecine work on your youtube page? Sorry for hijacking this question. Here's a fairly recent example of a film I shot on 200T, processed and telecined by Andec: http://vimeo.com/47719815 As for turnaround time, my experience suggests that getting your f...

Super 8 meets Vinyl

At long last I finished editing a short documentary about Berlioz. All shot on Super 8 reversal this summer in Italy and France. As soundtrack, I chose the fifth movement of Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique from an ancient vinyl record (so old, it doesn't even tell you it's in mono). You can watch and...

That's beautifully insane! Let me guess: it wasn't just apple juice that inspired all this action?!
