Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

Probably confusing 15 metres of film....somewhere it probably says "50 feet / 15m" and people of the video age assume 15 minutes.

Re: Kodak Super8 revival - Media coverage

A shame.....but if someone had said two months ago that a brand new Kodak super 8 camera would be shown on mainstream TV in January 2016.....

Re: Kodak Super8 revival - Media coverage

OK so I am unlikely to buy the new camera, though I have to say if the price drops below $400 it's not impossible that I might get one. I just don't really need it as I have several good, functional cameras and even a donor camera for spares for my Elmo Super 110. The negative film/process/scan deal...

Re: Kodak Super8 revival - Media coverage

There has been a lot of media coverage of this, the super 8 camera and Technics 1200 turntable seem to have been the items that media reporters found the most fascinating. What's great is that almost all the media attention has been positive. While some claim to understand the concept and others sim...

Re: 5 Years Since End of Kodachrome Processing

I think Ferrania have a great idea in reducing the size of the machinery and not making huge runs necessary for film production. If Kodak can get into a position where they can likewise make shorter runs, they could do emulsions "to order" as described. As for Kodachome...there is a separa...

Re: 5 Years Since End of Kodachrome Processing

100D was an acceptable alternative and a good film in its own right but nothing will ever replace Kodachrome.

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

With any luck Ferrania will get their E6 colour reversal film on the market before the end of 2016.

More cameras = more film sold = more fun for all of us....from the enthusiasts to the pros.

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

Kodak seem to have confirmed that the camera will take any ordinary super 8 cartridge so this camera could be used with the new Ferrania film, or stuff from suppliers such as Kahl.....or "new old stock". Kodak seem to be going for a system where budding film makers buy negative film, shoot...

Re: Ferrania hope to start film manufacture in 2014

They also need to have everything safety inspected and accredited by the Italian government - an organisation which I am sure will be scrupulously honest and fair.....

Nevertheless, the fact that the reborn Ferrania should bring some jobs to the area will ensure that eventually they'll get started.

Re: Ferrania hope to start film manufacture in 2014

Just want to add my support to Film Ferrania. I will be buying super 8 films from them once they get production going. I know how it's so easy to hit "snags" and for a perfectly feasible timeline to be extended by months. It's a shame, but it happens. What we do not need is people spreadin...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

The Adox super 8 B&W film is cheaper than tri-x.

All we can do is support Ferrania in whatever way each of us can and hope that their product is worthy, and cheaper than the competition. That's their aim.

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Ferrania haven't said much about likely cost of the film, other than that they will try to keep the price down. The best I can remember is a fairly vague comment about it being cheaper than what's available now. I am assuming they were referring to eBay NOS 100D and the colour reversal stocks reslit...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Everyone who donated should get news updates. They are behind schedule due to the discovery of large quantities of asbestos that had to be removed from the fabric of their factory building, and power supply issues. It's hardly surprising that they've hit problems, most large projects do. They issue ...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Sadly it's supply and demand. 100D is not in production any more, and a small but tangible number of people want it. It's the same in the world of cassette tape. No hi-fi quality tape is in production any more and the prices for fresh chrome and metal cassettes are insane. If Ferrania get their prod...

Re: Preserving E6 chemicals

I work in laboratories, albeit school labs rather than industrial.....but we certainly have no way of opening a sealed chemical bottle without letting air in. Most chemicals we get in as powders or concentrated solutions with relatively long shelf life and we make up solutions as necessary which wil...
