Bolex maintenance

I have several of the pocket cameras including B8, C8, D8, P3 etc, and some feel like the winding mechanism could do with lubrication. Is there a simple way to access the spring motor for that purpose, and what type of grease or oil would be required? Thanks for any advice/suggestions.
Alex.

Re: Copying Super8 with Nikon D3100

David, many thanks for taking time to reply. The projector definitely has 24 fps. I could only see 30fps on the camera, but it's not mine, and I haven't had a very close look at it. I will check it out and see if I can get both in sync. I had thought about using a professional service, but there's t...

Copying Super8 with Nikon D3100

I've been asked to prepare some of my Super8 family movies for showing at a Birthday party in two weeks. I have a Eumig 601 projector and a simple box type device for copying with a camera. I set up a Nikon D3100 in video mode to record the projected image. A number of the sequences in the recording...

Beaulieu MAR 8G lens

I have just acquired a Beaulieu Standard 8 camera with the zoom lens. The lens, however, is a bit loose. It doesn't seem to be interchangeable, but it is not tightly mounted to the body. Does anyone have experience of this camera? Is there a way of tightening the lens? The spring motor winds and run...

Re: Film Compatibility with Minolta Autopak 8 D6

I'm by no means an expert, but the film speed seems to be read by the camera separately from the film type i.e. daylight or artificial. This camera doesn't have the sensor for the film type, so the cartridge notch for that reading has no effect. If it did have a reader, the Wittner cartridge would p...

Re: Film Compatibility with Minolta Autopak 8 D6

Some cameras have a device in the film chamber that disengages the filter when a daylight film is loaded. This is separate from the sensor that reads the film speed. It is activated by a different notch on the cartridge. There are only two settings, filter in or out. With the D6, you have to use the...

Re: Film Compatibility with Minolta Autopak 8 D6

The chart from the link covers both D6 and D10 cameras. Although the D6 has the stated film speed range, it has a stepped sensor which reads a certain value from the cartridge notches. The problem is that it was designed to work with the film speeds available when the camera was current. It may not ...

Re: Film Compatibility with Minolta Autopak 8 D6

I also have this camera, and hope you get some informative replies. I tried the Wittner UN54 cartridge in it, with filter retracted, and it was under exposed. I am told it is notched 100D, so the same as your Ektachrome. I think it must read that as 160 ASA. I hope someone knows the answer! Alex Sen...

Re: Wittner 54 Super 8 cartridge.

hi, the WITTNER B+W 54 Super 8 cartridges are notched 100D. No filter notch, no conversion filter in the camera should be enabled. I guess your D6 camera did misinterpret the notch as 160 asa -> yielding underexposure. Next time you may use the D10 only or set exposure on D6 camera manually (if pos...

Wittner 54 Super 8 cartridge.

Hi. I'm new here, and have question for more experienced members. I would like to know if the Wittner 54 cartridge is designed to leave the conversion filter in or out. It would also be helpful to know if the film speed notch is calibrated for 125 ASA, or 100. I understand the film should be rated a...
