Hi; I'm not sure of the make but it's a pretty cheap/standard black n' white "lipstick" type. It focuses the ground glass image well, infact it always shocks me how well it works, and yes I just gaffa it with a few wire splints. Olly Sounds good. Is this attached to the bolex Mask viewfin...

that's what they say.... i've tried a bunch of little 'button' style cameras but none of them focused properly or showed the full image in the viewfinder. I'm hoping to find someone who's _paved the way_ and found an exact model that works... :) You can often focus the lens by rotating the screwy b...

Are you sure you are turning the wind up the right way? Away from the lens turret as opposed to towards it? Doh!!! You nailed it. It winds and runs. Seems strong. Looks like I need a take up reel and one leather strap screw. Thanks for the tip. *giggle* I have all the very best tips! Yay! It works!...

i'm not sure if the measurements are exact... i mean if you're adapting a 35mm 50mm lens, will it be exactly 25mm in 16mm? i do not know. We all dodged this one earlier! ;) A 50mm lens for 35mm cameras will be a 50mm lens on a 16mm camera, because it is a 50mm lens! <VBG> So you would need to have ...

Re: which cam is broke

Hey Freya, Which one of your cams has a broken light meter? I service s8 cams occassionally, R10s, Bauers, Minoltas in particular, but they all have similar setups. I had an R10 that's aperture wouldn't work on auto because of binding metal surfaces. These little things are soooooo sensitive, even a...

Re: VHS vs DVD

I picked it up at The Film Gallery in Paris, which must be their HQ, so to speak, since its address is also the address Re:voir gives for itself in the catalogue. I agree that it's nice to have a print catalogue since I too have had problems with their website. Ah yes that's his new project. I didn...

The VHS equivalent of DVD handling would be if the tape came on open spools; DVDs and CDs should theoretically be sold safely housed in their own individual cassettes, which would then be inserted into the machine. Too expensive I guess...and way too long-lasting for the comfort of the manufacturer...

Bzzzzzzzt! Incorrect. What's all his Bzzzzzt! buisness? Is that making a rude noise at me? That's not very nice! :( No way in hell that VHS tapes are better for storage/durability than DVDs. Wait 10 or 15 years and your VHS tapes have dropped in image quality, then try to make a new copy that will ...

Fast shipper... the cam came in today and I just checked it out. It was wound when it got here so I ran the spring down and now I cant get it to wind back up. Hmmm.... The lenses: the half inch is a Wallensack and the 25mm is a Schneider. The Schneider looks usable. Maybe Im missing a secret move f...

If you're concerned, getting exact framing might be difficult to accomplish with a nikon (or any other adapter 35mm) lens. Finding the right matching lens for the turret might be a chore, and probably would be a good idea to shoot some charts to see where how the image fills the frame. I'd love to ...

One way you could improve it however would be to use a UV filter instead of plexiglass. You would need to find a big one but it migt give you clearer pictures. This is where my limited knowlege comes in. Could a filter not simply be attached to the camera lens inside the bottle? Oh I think you misu...

Re: light meters

You probably do, but I don't because I stay wide and physically move in on my subjects, no matter what. Ah okay! Yes my problems seem to be when I am zoomed in. Zooming is problematic that's why I don't do it. I stay out wide and move in closer and fill the frame with the subject and take a reading...

One situation where I have to say that VHS is better than DVD is durability. At the libarary where I watch a lot of films DVD's are often so scratched that they won't play properly but videotapes are fine. Usually I much prefer DVD's but in this situation it can be very upsetting to only see half a ...

Yes, but the point is he supposes a DVD would not playback all frames because he's heard somewhere that not all frames are saved in their entirety on DVD and his conclusion is just wrong. Well not all frames are saved in their entirety on DVD because they are compressed! :) I expect that isn't quit...
