I have my 814XL-S in one of these (link below). In mine I have the camera, 62mm metal hood, remote control, wide angle lens. And there is still room for more which is going to get used for filters someday. You just need a sharp razor and carefully cut out the pre-diced foam to fit to your preference...

No you need the timer pack to do time lapse unless you want to do it manually by sitting there and click off single frames yourself. The timer pack does show up on ebay by it self a couple of times a year but you'll have to fight for it. Do some internet searches maybe a store has one somewhere.

The intervalometer was an optional accessory for this camera. Like the hi-speed pack it slides on the top on the camera and it has a plug that goes in place of the regular trigger.
