Re: Lighting for Super 8 weddings
Last Christmas I put one of those 1000W halogen lights in the corner of the room and pointed it to the ceiling (which is white!). I used Vision 200T and a XL camera. Nobody was blinded or disturbed by the light; the outcome on the positive print was very good.

Re: Wittner Fuji 64T in Super 8 carts - Just ordered!
The text says that you might underexpose the film at a camera setting of 100 ASA and that experience with 16 mm film and projectors, which naturally have a strong lamp, showed that the higher density gives better results. Further on it says that you should NOT overexpose, for example by the automati...

Re: DS8 perforator
The pictures are good enough to see that the DS8 perforation on the 16 mm perforation side "wanders" between the big holes. Seems to be just a film sample for demonstration.
For proper function you'd need unperforated 16 mm film, wherever you get it from.

Smashing, absolutely smashing. The film stock is great, the camera perfect and you are taking really good shots.

Kodak 7278
There is an Eumig Bank camera for sale on a local site including five Tri-X 7278 films for 20 Euros. Obviously quite old - what's the verdict - are the films still usable (maybe getting low contrast)?

Re: Removing Bolex P1 lens
What you describe doesn't sound like a big problem. It seems that somebody messed with the front barrel that has the distance numbers printed on and didn't tighten it in the right position anymore. I'm sure somebody on the forum who knows the P1 better than me can give you exact instructions how to ...

Re: Leicina 8 (S, V, SV) lightmeter repair
I had a little look into CdS cells. They have a certain "dark" resistance and when light hits them the resistance changes more or less linearly with intensity - every cell type with another characteristic. The first problem is: we don't know the original characteristic of the CdS cell in t...

Re: Leicina 8 (S, V, SV) lightmeter repair
I tried with two repairshops now and the answer was no. There is no spare parts anymore and they could not do a replacement; one said it is very unlikely to find anybody who could do it. I wonder if you changed the CdS cell with a different one and did adjust the resistors in the bridge accordingly ...

Re: Ektachrome 160 x-processing
I'd strongly recommend to search Martin Baumgarten's site on this subject. I have tried to develop according to his directions and it turned out great. I also tried to alter one step - substitute potassiumbichromate with potassiumpermanganate as a bleaching agent - and it did not come out any good. ...

Re: Bauer C5 XL sound
I don't know your camera but I can tell you this: You are on the safe side when you use the Tri-X and the daylight filter is disengaged (if there is a switch, put it on the bulb symbol); you will overexpose 1/3 stop which shouldn't be noticable. With the E100D it depends on your camera: if the apert...

Eumigette 2
I recently got my hand on one of these Eumig cameras. It was cheap and I had not expected it to work completely - it turned out that the film transport would only function sometimes even with the motor always making a sound. So I had to open the camera and found some interesting features that I have...

Re: Viewer and Splicer Recommendations
For Super 8 I'm using a Braun SB1 viewer; it never had any negative effect on any of my films and it is easy to handle. Rewind goes over the top of the equipment - so there's a lot of space for example for film cleaning. The fasted splicer I know is the the Agfa F8S: all working steps are done with ...
