Bolex SBM Cable Release?

Hi, Just tried my H16 Reflex Bolex side-cable release on a SBM and it doesn't fit! X( The cable bracket fits the SBM side chamber but the bracket won't engage with the chamber slot, it goes into it but will not turn 90 degrees to lock it in there - it won't turn at all. Tried the cable on my old H16...

Re: Gossen-Bolex Light Meter?

Gossen-Bolex Light Meter?

HI, Have a Gossen-Bolex Light Meter but no manual. I also notice that the DIN / ASA values seem to be upside down and showing in the wrong windows! :-o Any clues as to the correct usage of this meter please? All the dials seem to move at once on lifting and rotating the external black plastic ring, ...

Re: H16 Bolex viewfinders?

Yes. They are interchangeable. The ones for the non reflex can be put on the side or the top. The ones for the reflex are just meant to stay on top. There is one that is basically an eyepiece that goes to a mirror at 45 degrees pointing down. If you have a reflex that is the one you need. Thanks, a...

H16 Bolex viewfinders?

Hi,

Are the Bolex H16 viewfinders interchangeable please? I think there were several made, a x3[?], x10, x13. Are they fixed or can they be swapped from H16 to H16 please?

Thanks.

Re: ANGENIEUX RIGHT ANGLE VIEWER FOCUSING?

Update: The Angenieux was focussed at 1.2 metres through the 120 viewer. To get the same object in focus using the Bolex viewer I had to revolve the Angenieux focus ring to the 1.5 metre mark so there is currently a focal discrepancy of around 12 inches / 30cm. The lens / viewer are in focus with th...

ANGENIEUX RIGHT ANGLE VIEWER FOCUSING?

Hi, Have a 16mm Angenieux F2.2 17-68mm ZOOM LENS w/ RIGHT ANGLE VIEWER for my c-mount Bolex H16. The zoom looks sharp through the Bolex but when I attach the 120 type dog-leg viewer it is out of focus whatever I do. Is there no diopter on this viewer please - how do you adjust it? There are several ...

Re: Metering Tri-X?

Thanks Avortex & Tscan, It's a 1958 Bolex H16 so no light meter on board. I use a Gossen 6 as a spot meter. For some strange reason ambient metering was never taught to me back in the 80s, I guess by then all modern cameras had on board meters so hand-held metering was never taught? I taught mys...

Metering Tri-X?

Hi,

I want to do an indoor shoot with Tri-X. I will be using twin 500W bulbs for lighting. How should I meter this film please, at ASA 160?

Many thanks,

Ric

Ps. Is there a modern LED alternative to photo studio filament bulbs like these please - they get red hot after a while! :-o

They will get you 16mm as well if you inquire for it.
They receive shipments from Wittners on a regular basis and easily can include some 16mm rolls for you (or other products).
Thanks Eric - will try there! ;)
