Simply appending the word "wide" in some way or other doesn't really help that much in terms of distinguishing the format. Super 8 shot with an anmaorphic lens is 'wide' Super 8 - indeed wider than Super Duper 8 in most cases. Super Gate seems to be heading in the right direction as it mak...

Just wondering how much all that lens assembly weighs? It looks as though it must put an enormous amount of strain on the mount.

I was under the impression that this model of camera was only available to rent from Pro8 and not to buy? If so, how did this one find its way onto the open market?

Polarising Filters

What are people's experiences of using a polarising filter with K40? Specifically are there any pitfalls, or any brands of filter you'd recommend - or any to avoid?

but we're talking about d8 and ds8, which they have already stopped selling except in bulk. It's surely all part of the one debate? I think Kodak get off lightly when DS8 and Super8 are considered as somehow being two separate formats - the end result is all Super 8. If Kodak were remotely serious ...

kodak isn't part of the equation when it comes to the survival of marginalized film formats. While this is certainly an accurate description of how things actually are, it does seem extraordinary to suggest that a company the size of Kodak should effectively be able to abdicate all serious marketti...

16mm really is cheap. Hmmm, doesn't this statement require just a bit of qualification? Most amusing that you follow this statement with an admission that you get lots of FREE stock anyway... tsk. I was really thinking about the consumer market rather than the 'strictly' professional market. There ...

Re: Forgive this heresy, but...

Every time somebody says "Double Super 8" I just have to wonder "well why not just use 16?" This is only a compelling argument so long as you can actually afford to shoot 16mm. The possibility of shooting DS8 K40 would in a lot of instances be the only thing that would make usin...

UK processing options?

Can anyone recommend UK based processing services for Tri X, Plus X and Ektachrome Super 8? And what does it cost?

The Canon 518 SV runs at 24 fps, but it doesn't have the much discussed sound jacks, tis a nice camera though.

I wonder whether the Ikonoskop guys have thought about producing a double super 8 version of their camera, I'm guessing this would require 'relatively' straightforward modifcation of the existing model? There are bound to be situations where stowage issues are so critical that the ability to carry t...

I could be wrong but I think the 518 SV has the option of shooting at 24fps whereas the 518 does not? Can anyone confirm this?
