Re: Super 8 on a drone
I certainly wouldn't be filming a fictional story or any events. Just doing some tracking shots over scenery. Like you might see in a travelogue film. So it wouldn't be part of any big project. Just experimenting. I used to attach a GoPro to a Syma X8C quadcopter for aerial videos. The X8C could cop...

Re: Super 8 on a drone
I think the ideal camera, if you could find one, would be an Elmo Album 3600. same 4.6mm super-wide angle lens as the Elmo F20S-XL, but half the weight. I bet it's relatively simple to even remove the silly zoom-element that swings away from the super-wide lens (the zoom element is very easy to rem...

Re: Super 8 on a drone
Well, you don’t have to use wide angle attachments designed for video as there are also ones designed for S8-cameras: Canon C-8 Wide Attachment 43, Schneider UWL I-III (for all cameras with Schneider Macro lenses, e.g. most Nizos), wide angle lens for the Chinon Pocket-8, Eumig PM Aspheric Wide Ang...

Re: Super 8 on a drone
The footage in the first link is awesome. Great stability. Ive seen the 16mm Bolex drone clip before. In the past, I have thought of doing the same thing myself but never got around to it. Years ago, my father used to work outdoors in a scenic bit of countryside with a view of the sea and a cliff. I...

Super 8 on a drone
Here in Australia, someone has mounted a super 8 camera to a drone. Looks like an FPV racing drone (doing some freestyle in acro mode.) Some great scenery there and what a great use of technology.

Re: Super 8 resolution compared with today's HD
When they have access to the original negative, they can. Interesting that the US used 35mm for decades for a lot of their TV shows whereas most of Europe and Australia etc used 16mm for film origination.BAC wrote:Don't they convert old television shows shot on 16mm to HD?

Re: Issue with Alien Anthology Blu-Ray
Hey Patrick, if you don't mind me asking, why are you posting under another new account? A very good question, Tim! Not too long ago, when I tried to log in, I was prompted to change my password. I did just that but at the time, I also noticed that my e-mail address listed is not the one I use anym...

Re: Issue with Alien Anthology Blu-Ray
If this would be a video-forum, I would guess that the bonus-material is only available in PAL-resolution and that either your monitor and/or your player isn't set to "auto zoom" (or something similar)... I'm based in a PAL country myself (Australia.) I played the Blu-Ray on a Kogan Blu-R...

Re: Issue with Alien Anthology Blu-Ray
Edit: - top left hand corner of the screen. Among the footage is an interview with H.R.Giger discussing the design of the alien (at least that's what I assume he is doing) - talking in his native Swiss tongue. Unfortunately, the picture is so small that it's impossible to read the subtitles.

Issue with Alien Anthology Blu-Ray
I recently bought the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray (U.K. version.) Although it's nice in a way to have all four movies together, I was really only interested in the first two anyway - both of them brilliant in their own unique way. The first was a great suspense film and the second was a great action fil...

Re: Still film in Super 8
Ektachrome 64T was originally a slide film that was cut down for Super 8. And more than one company loaded Fujichrome Velvia 50 into Super 8 cartridges. I believe the same was also done with Fujichrome 64T which apparently had finer grain than the Ektachrome 64T.

Re: Does the pressure plate really help to get stable pics?
I bought an Andec pressure plate recently for just $1.00 and plan to try it soon to determine if it makes any perceptible difference in film exposed with Beaulieu 4008 series cameras. Congrats on getting an Andec pressure plate at a bargain price. I do recall someone someone on this forum using the...

Re: Does the pressure plate really help to get stable pics?
I am not going to use 4008-lens on r16. but I will do the other way arround. Although both cameras share the same lens mount, I heard from one guy that the lens needs to be adjusted with regards to the collimnation when switching formats like this. Perhaps the flange focal depth is different betwee...
