Re: kahl film in UK
Kahl is an idiot and a crook. He did a film chain transfer of my film after I ordered and paid for a flying spot, then scratched my film when finally doing a (lousy) flying spot transfer, then stopped responding to my emails. Shy my ass. Stay far away.

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD
He's not talking about whether the digital will hold up though but the original super 8 image. The wider the image the less original real estate used, ie zoom but perhaps I should have used other words.

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD
1.85 is only a 5% zoom from 16:9, it will hold up. 4:3 is pretty good too of course since that's how you shot it.

There's no 16:9 film format what is this a TV show? I vote for 1.85:1.

Re: "In My Image" Super 8 feature film now on youtube
Looking forward to it. I have the DVD and would love to replace the disc in the box with something HD. Oh, and I really need to do this with "sisten i är en skit" as well.

Re: feature on super 8, a good idea?
sure i'm still making films but professionally i'm a physician now even though i still produce features on the side (lots of comp time as a doctor and golf isn't my thing), and i changed geek hobbies from old film cameras to bicycles so there's very little super 8. :) i recently started developing ...

Re: feature on super 8, a good idea?
hey, doing some thread archeology just to let you know that you can now rent this film on vimeo on demand. it's not super 8 but it could have been and it's made just as if it was and it kind of looks like it was.

Re: external hard disk
yeah i tried to be subtle, but it seems like nobody got it. I'M RUNNING A HACKINTOSH, ACTUALLY A COUPLE OF THEM. THAT'S WHY I HAVE ESATA. satisfied?

Re: external hard disk
agree completely. fw800 is still noticeably faster than usb though, so if you don't have esata that's what you should use, even if it means paying more for the drive. my mac actually does have esata built in, but it's not an apple mac. :-) to me mac is an os, whether it runs on a box from dell or ...

Re: external hard disk
my mac supports esata. wait, you mean *apple* macs?
fw800 is faster than usb and those wd's have that too. imacs had fw800 two years ago at least.

Re: 9fps
this post should appear a couple of seconds after i hit submit. is that a guess? you can't always be sure even if you know something, no matter how many times you read the manual. sorry, i'm just a bit annoyed that this board always assumes you're an idiot. :-)

Re: external hard disk
yes and no. if you use one that has fw800 and raid 0, i.e. the wd mybook studio, you can work with less compression and more realtime effects, and if you connect it to esata you can even edit uncompressed hd, it's awesome. if all you need is basic dv editing you don't even need 7200, any drive works ...

why would he be guessing?jpolzfuss wrote:As this depends on your camera (shutter angle, ...), I would take a look into the manual instead of guessing.
