Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

Once the perforator is up and running I can add negative and positive stocks.
To have Ilford Pan F plus would be attractive, I think. Last time I had contact with them the minimum order
was 10,800 feet of 16mm. Orwo PF 2 and PF 2 plus are options, Orwo TF 12 d sound recording film, too.

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

Yeah, is a possibility It will nevertheless be important to get hold of some data. If I reckon with 1,000 potential buyers of 25-ft portions of a cheap black and white reversal film, I’d look at 25,000 linear feet of 16mm wide stock or twelve 2,000-ft rolls. That puts me somewhere in price. The ques...

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

Thanks for the insight Double-/regular Eight has the scapegoat role since space age. That damned cartridge can hardly be taken away from people. Understandable, of course I hope somebody else drops in here, too. While 100 ft are nice to have most Double-Eight cameras are made for 25ers. Their compac...

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

Can tell you why: first, you have to have one. They cost $50,000 new. Second, they’re no longer made, only very few. I know of one company that makes perforators. Third, a 35mm perforator cannot be turned into a 16mm one. Fourth, the tools alone cost several thousands, punches and die. One must know...

Re: What have you been working on lately?

Doing research on Taylor, Taylor & Hobson ciné lenses I have a TTH Serital 1.5 inch before me, disassembled, and feel the urge to bring out a W A R N I N G ! These lenses cannot be opened entirely without damage to the iris mechanism. The follower bolt is crimped. Optically it seems to be intere...

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

Another myth, that about the two musicians having invented Kodachrome In fact, their contribution was minor, it was a regular Eastman-Kodak employee and chemist who had discovered the way to go based on Agfa publications. Leslie Brooker found a solution to the problem of the wandering dyes. Like Bel...

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

I take it as Double Eight. Regular 8 applies to projection.
There was also Straight Eight, film 8 mm wide in camera.

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

I have a perforator. It needs an overhaul plus punches for Double 8. If I knew about footage demand, I should consider ordering a set of punches and prepare myself for making available various stocks in Double 8. It’s been a project since a while, I really only need to be able to reckon with some ma...

I fear you haven’t followed me. It’s about printing on a stock that has a colourless base.

Re: Regular 8mm Black & White Print

Bravo!

Now to move from black and grey to black and white I’d suggest you print on positive stock.
It’s available in Double-8 at Kahl film, Germany in 400-ft. lengths. I am almost as far as you
with an 8mm project, still need some things around the camera.

Re: Who's Left Shooting 16mm?

Believe it or not, I am a fervent disliker of Super-8. Already the designation! I have a few Paillard-Bolex H-16 models, a Ciné-Kodak Special, Revere 103, Beaulieu Reflex 16, Eumig C 16, and one Bell & Howell Filmo projector from the 1920s. Busy with an 8mm project at the moment I plan to return...

Re: I Need An 8mm Film Cleaning Kit

Have cleaned many miles of film with nylon velvet cloth and alcohol. The latter used on the cloth, not internally. Isopropanol is an alcohol, maybe the best suited. Often rub the cloth clean against itself, away from the film, slap it in the air, fold it twice, lay it down on the table, and pull the...
