Re: Minolta autopak-8 D10/12
I'd put the D12 on par with the Canon 1014 and Nikon R10. The D12 is built like a tank, it'll make the Canon 1014 feel like a plastic toy in comparison and the lens is as sharp as any fixed zoom lens Super 8 you'll find. The main downside is that the fast speeds (32, 54 fps) require the annoying ext...

Re: another very sad day...
I believe the 18-5L super 8 model was the one which requires the rare 75w space lamp. Years ago I was lucky and got an 18-5L on ebay for $20 and it was already converted to use EFN lamps

Don't quote me on this but I thought I recall reading that the built in interval timer of the XL-S has limited fixed settings. I have the accessory timer for the AZ and it is quite versatile - you can set any interval time you please from 1 second up to 1 minute. Doesn't the XL-S have the same &quo...

Re: Focal brand cameras.. anyone got specs?
Focal brand camera surface on ebay Australia quite frequently... I'm guessing they're a cheap rebadge of a japanese or other camera? I believe they were sold by Kmart... though I can't remember where I heard/read that. There's one called an XL300 going at the moment ... anyone had any experience wi...

Re: The best Regular 8 camera is...
Hi i´m looking for a good R8 camera. Which is for you the best R8 camera? thanks For me the best is the Bolex K2. I truly believe its got the best zoom lens ever made for R8, the Switar 8-36mm. Its got a slightly small but nice TTL viewfinder with ground glass focussing, 12-48 fps, variable shut...

Probably the reasons why Kodak (maybe when John Pytlak is better,he can shed some light here)didn't adopt 20 fps as the super 8 default speed was because standard 8mm ran at 16fps and home movie makers were used to that. They probably forsaw the need for dual 8 projectors and envisioned a period whe...

Re: Bolex M8 Projector
I've just aquired a bolex M8 projector. It definitely looks like a 50's space age work of art, and I have heard of people saying it is their favourite standard 8 projector, but I would just like to know a bit more about it! Can anyone tell me anything? Also, I've seen people mention the projector a...

I tried one once. Negatives, It is easily the heaviest Super 8 cartridge camera I've ever held. On a tripod it is crap due to the fixed position handgrip (needs a brace). The viewfinder image is somewhat dim which makes the semi useless microprism focus screen even worse. Positives, images i got wer...
