I'd love to have the motor and the mag... Would work on my Pathe DS8.

Which I may as well sell now. I haven't shot ANYTHING in dern near forever.

Ahhh... The "Photo Drive-up" days.
I'd bet $5 the seller only paid $1 for this. I used to go to all the PDUs in the area, note the expiry dates on their S8 film, and show up shortly thereafter. They sold outdated film for $1/roll. I had a refrigerator full of slightly outdated film when I moved to ...

Honestly, Jax, it sounds like the gear isn't running in any kind of sync at all. With a fairly stable camera and a fairly stable recorder, you'd probably go 45 seconds before you noticed drift anyway...

This is why I bought the Workprinter I got (the 1fps one) well before I even had a DSLR. Haven't gotten to it (bought the SLR after the kid was born, haven't had time since!)
I always hear folks saying there's going to be exposure fluctuations, etc. But then I hear there are feature films coming out ...

Lightmeter blows. Sllllooooowwww.

I have two. One with a busted meter. Big deal. I'd rather not have that thing going all haywire on me all the time anyway.

16mm reels are what you want. I bought an old box of Kodachrome for like $1, unspooled the film and binned it, and just use that for take-up.

Yeah, can't beat the Canon DS-8.
I've got one, and it's the only DS-8 I've used, even though I have one of each of the others (minus the Elmo)
I've been thinking of just selling the other DS-8s. I'm just not shooting like I used to, and I think the Canon will serve me well enough when I do.
Question ...

5x7 will get you better half-frame prints than 4x6.
I love half-frame.
It's all I shoot for still film these days. Half-frame reversal. I need to find a filmstrip viewer ;)

I worked at a theater in high school. It's now a yuppie shopping center. :(

Anyway, pre-megaplex 923 seat former Fox theater. Cool place.
Single perforated screen.
The cool thing about a single-screen theater was that once the show began, you'd only need one or two folks at the concession counter ...

I've been looking for a THX on LD ever since that DVD came out. It looks BEAUTIFUL, but the CGI was distracting to me. I guess I know the film so well... My wife didn't notice it.
I've got this bithin' industrial LD player at work, that I actually still use for testing. I've found some great stuff ...

Right. I do realize that.

I'm talking about higher res, higher FPS imagers getting down to S8 size. Not below. Like in the next couple years, a cheap 720P 1/4" imager won't be out of the question.
While I fully realize this digital cart for S8 is remarkably unlikely to happen, I do like the concept ...

I think boohoo makes a good point. Are there a lot of video cameras with crazy-ass fast lenses?

Think about a 310XL.

But I think DV would be wasted on it. As CCDs and CMOS get smaller and higher res and faster framerates, THEN it would be uber-cool.
Sorry, I can't remember the code for u-umlaut ...
