Andreas,
This is great.
However, I'm disappointed by the five minute time limitation.
I spent the last couple years working diligently (time, sweat and money) on my ten minute dark fantasy, "Howard's Keep", which was filmed entirely in Super 8mm Tri-X.
I'm just a hobbyist but I've gotten a lot ...

Howard's Keep
It took a couple of years but my film "Howard's Keep" is ready in time for the Halloween season.
Shot all on Super 8 Tri-X, (Canon 1014 XLS and 1014E) it's a ten minute dark fantasy. Make sure to watch it in HD mode and headphones are best but at minimum, turn up the volume... my sound guy did an ...

Re: 1014E History Inquiry
Wow! That 1975 American Cinematographer is a great 'Throw Back Thursday' type of read.
Thanks for posting that.

Re: Retro 8 WIN!
What an interesting undertaking and a great testament to the Retro 8 (I really need to start using mine).
Your true life story will surely be adapted to a 'found footage' type of narrative film.
I think I'll start working on that right away!

Re: 1014E History Inquiry
You nailed it. It's on ebay right now!
Nah, I'm just working on a piece of fiction that takes place in 1975. The protagonist needs to operate a Super 8 camera that was available in 1975 but purchased in an earlier year. (I also own a 1014E).

Re: 1014E History Inquiry
Thank you for that information.
I guess it's safe to say that if I had walked into a good quality or high-end camera shop in 1975 I could have purchased the Canon 1014E (research!)

1014E History Inquiry
Does anyone know what year the Canon 1014E was launched in North America? (71, 72 73?)
And during what years did Canon manufacture this camera?
I did an internet search but could not find definitive answers.
Thanks!

Re: Alphacine in Seattle closing lab
Oh that is a real shame.
Over the past year I've had over two hours of S-8 B/W footage developed by AC for a project I am working on. They were terrific to work with and I found their processing, for some reason, just better than an east coast lab I have also used.

Re: Fake Snow Needed for Scene, Ideas?
Doug,
You may want to try a small can (e.g. makes 2 gallons) of that instant snow powder product.
It's easy to make, it's quick and really does look like snow.

Re: Fake Snow Needed for Scene, Ideas?
Nice job Doug. Very creative solution.
As it turned it out, I did not need either the field marking chalk nor the fake snow. Mother Nature provided an abundance of the real deal just in the nick of time.
More than I wanted. Over a foot.
Made the two days of shooting a bit more difficult than ...

Re: Fake Snow Needed for Scene, Ideas?
Alas, no miniatures in this shoot and dandruff has never been one of my issues (those would be other things!)
Will be using a combination of field marking chalk per BAC's suggestion and the instant snow product.
And living in New England, real snow is always a possibility. But right now the ...

Fake Snow Needed for Scene, Ideas?
Looks like I will not have real snow on the ground for an upcoming shoot (the scene calls for snow)
I will be using Super 8 Tri-X and shooting both during the daytime and at night, same location.
You can buy artificial snow, stuff you mix with some water and it expands to about 100 times its ...
