Plus-X B+W

I just shot a roll of S-8mm Plus-X with the new cartridge. I was very impressed with how much quieter my cameras ran using it (I tested three different cameras with the one roll). NO JITTER! I hope the Kodachrome rolls I bought turn out as well.

Cement splicing woes

What you are experiencing sounds exactly like trying to splice polyester base film = it won't work. I have tried it to see for myself and yeah, the film will be stuck together, but the slightest tug on the film separates it. If you are shooting Kodak film the only explanation is your cement. Even th...

Single 8mm cameras

Wow, what a camera! I think we all would love to see photos of your jewel both before, during and after modification. This kind of modified-for-roll film camera could be the wave for our S-8mm future. Good luck and keep us posted :) .

Plus-X

My experience is that the apparent grain of any black and white film will be affected by the processing. Done right, Plus-X is a marvelous film with micro grain and beautiful tones. I put its pictorial quality right up there with Kodachrome. I'd recomment using a quality lab specializing in black an...

16mm filmers

I would like to second the motion to have a 16mm forum either separate from the 8mm or include in the same forum. I shoot R-8mm, S-8mm and 16mm (when I can 8) and think that there are probably many others who do as well. It can also be an interest to those who wish to learn more about 16mm or to tho...

Clearing up

I agree Uncle Barney. I think there is room here for all discussions, wether I personally agree or disagree with the topic. I just feel that this particular sight should not pander to the "let's all switch to video because it is (A) better than S-8mm film and (B) S-8mm film is going the way of ...

Your film

Andreas, very nice job! It is amazing that such a short film can emote the feelings of your experience so well. I bet the images look awesome when projected on a nice movie screen.

Freeze please

I think one should always place his filmstock in the freezer until ready to shoot. I have been doing this for almost twenty years. I put all film in sealed plastic freezer bags available in any grocery store. Then when I am ready to use it, I take it out of the freezer. I remove the amount of film I...

Cool Cam

I almost bought one of those some years ago at a Photo flea market. It is cool, but I just couldn't get past how kinda unwieldy it is with the 100ft roll magazine on. Also it is nothing special in the lens department and features. However, it is well built and probably takes fine pictures. Please lo...
