Re: Camera repair service UK?

Thanks Jamie - I wasn't sure I'd found the same guy until he got back to me. I bought it from him via ebay before he was operating as Super8arena as far as I know. But yes, the camera came to me in amazingly good condition.

Glad to hear another recommendation for him, anyway. Was nervous about ...

Re: Camera repair service UK?

Thanks all. I've actually just heard back from the chap in Germany who sold me the camera a few years ago, now operating as www.super8arena.com, so I'm going to try him in the first instance.

Camera repair service UK?

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy repair service in the UK or Europe? My trusty Nizo 801 is out of action and I don't want to risk messing around with it myself.

Re: Help needed with Nizo problem

Thanks Mitch. Yes, I see what you mean about the take up clutch... feel kind of stupid for not having noticed that.

The carts wind okay by hand, a bit stiff, but not enough to cause a problem, I'd say. And it's definitely just scratches rather than slits, so I guess it's moving on a bit.

But I'll ...

Re: Help needed with Nizo problem

Thank you! I'll give it a go. If you have pictures that would be a great help, but don't go to extra trouble.

Help needed with Nizo problem

I really hope someone can help me. My beautiful Nizo 801 has suddenly started behaving oddly. No previous problems.

One day I was happily shooting a roll of Ektachrome, the next day I loaded up a roll of Tri X and started shooting. The film counter didn't seem to be moving forward very much, and ...

While in Scotland I found a little camera shop near Edinburgh castle selling E64T for £10 - process paid!

Wow, how are they making any profit in that? What were the processing arrangements? That would be cheaper than K40 in its last two years.

Yes I'd like to know more about that too. Where ...

Thanks chaps, but with front projection how do I position my actors without them getting in the way of the projector beam?

Faded colours isn't an issue because I'll be shooting b/w, and I'm going for an old school Hollywood look anyway.

Back projection

Hey

Sorry if this has been covered before, but a search didn't come up with much.

I'm wanting to do some old school back projection. Are there issues surrounding this, like having to sync up the camera and the projector? How would I do this for Super8? What if you're shooting at a different speed ...

I've had a couple of Goko editor/"viewers" both had terrible images very soft and dim.

I think one of them has a knob on the sprocket wheel that can be pushed in and turned to adjust frame lines. Maybe yours is the same.

You beauty! Yes, it pushes in, disengaging the cog. Was a bit stiff, I'd ...

But the gate is geared to the guide roller, so manually pushing it doesn't make any difference. I attempted to go in through the back and disengage the cogs, but they're not really detachable without taking the whole thing apart. Does seem odd. Have found a manual for a later Goko model and that ...

Thanks a lot - that's strangely reassuring. Actually, I fiddled around with the position of the bulb, and that improved things a bit - I can make out what's going on at least.

I guess the key is to know your footage pretty well from projection.

Now if only there was a way to adjust the frame so it ...
